He will pay a visit to the Netherlands to inspect on-site.

New projects are being implemented by the Ministry of National Education for the agricultural high schools to take an active role in order to train qualified human resources in the field of agriculture and to make Turkey an agricultural production base in this period when the global food crisis has recently had an impact all over the world and production has become very important.

In order to see the practices in this context, the Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer, Wageningen University, which is accepted as the best university in the world in the field of agriculture in the Netherlands, and the World Horti Center, where innovative agricultural practices are made and the sector and educational institutions are located together, will be held between 19-20 October. will make a high-level visit.

In his statement regarding his visit to the Netherlands, Minister Özer stated that the recent problems in food supply chains have brought the field of agriculture and animal husbandry to the forefront as a much more critical sector, and said, “In this context, in order to make our country an agricultural base and to move our country to an advantageous position in these times of crisis. As the Ministry of National Education, we decided to restructure our agricultural high schools. In addition to 123 agricultural lists, we opened 23 more this year, bringing the number of agricultural high schools to 146.” said.

Reminding that they have developed a comprehensive cooperation protocol with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Özer said, “We have stepped into a very comprehensive cooperation regarding the updating of the curriculum of our agricultural high schools, the establishment of the latest technology application laboratories, and the redesign of education according to the priorities of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. At the same time, by establishing R&D centers on 4 million square meters, which is the application area of ​​these high schools, we have had the opportunity to implement new approaches related to agriculture and animal husbandry in a practical way.” he said.

World's best practices in agriculture will be examined on-site

In this context, Minister Özer stated that they would like to see the agricultural practices in the Netherlands, which has achieved significant success in agricultural practices in the world, and shared the following information: “We will make a two-day visit to the Netherlands with our General Directorate of Vocational and Technical Education and our expert friends. We had the opportunity to see new developments in the field of how agricultural education is done, how it is improved and how the view of agriculture is realized with new technologies, both with the minister of education and at universities that have carried out very famous studies on agriculture in the world, and to try new approaches to increase this cooperation between Turkey and the Netherlands. will be. I hope that together with the studies in the Netherlands, we will have the opportunity to strengthen the new approach in agriculture that we have realized in Turkey in the last year.”

Visit plan

During his visit, which covers October 19-20, Minister Özer, together with his delegation, will hold meetings with Robbert Dijkgraaf, Minister of Education, Culture and Science of the Netherlands, and Sjoukje Heimovaara, Chairman of the Board of Wageningen University, and will visit exemplary schools and organizations in the field of agriculture.

It is expected that the current and potential cooperation between the two countries will be discussed in the meeting between Minister Özer and his Dutch counterpart Dijkgraaf.

Özer will also visit the World Horti Center, a research center where researchers, entrepreneurs and various educational institutions carry out joint innovation-oriented studies, to get information about the studies carried out here.

Özer is also planning to visit Wageningen University and Research Center in the Netherlands, which focuses on the theme of “healthy food and living environment”, and meet with Sjoukje Heimovaara, Chairman of the Board of Directors.

During the visit to the Netherlands, it is aimed to obtain information about experiences and good practices in agricultural education in general, and to evaluate cooperation opportunities in different fields of education, especially agriculture.
