Turkey Among the Top 10 Countries Receiving Investments

Successful projects were awarded within the scope of Entrepreneurial Capacity Development for Sustainable Socio-Economic Harmony Project (ENHANCHER). Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank announced that within the scope of the project with a budget of 32,5 million Euros, 5 different grant programs were announced and approximately 117 million Euros were allocated to 11 projects.

Stating that they set many goals for entrepreneurship in the 2023 Industry and Technology Strategy, Minister Varank said, “We focused on technology-based entrepreneurship. We will announce the National Technology Entrepreneurship Strategy very soon. With this Strategy, we aim to establish 2030 technology startups by 100.” he said.

STARTED IN 2020

The ENHANCHER Project was launched in 2020 within the framework of the European Union financial aid fund. The Ministry of Industry and Technology, General Directorate of Development Agencies is the beneficiary of the project, where the International Migration Policy Development Center ICMPD assumes a implementing role in Turkey.

CERTIFICATION CEREMONY

Successful projects were awarded certificates in the program organized within the scope of ENHANCER. In addition to Minister Varank, EU Commission Neighborhood and Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi, Head of the European Union Delegation to Turkey Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer Landrut, International Migration Policy Development Center (ICMPD) Director Martijn Pluim also attended the ceremony.

60 YEARS PARTNERSHIP

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Varank stated that Turkey and the European Union have a 60-year partnership and said, “We probably wouldn't be exaggerating if I say that we have stepped up in the Competitive Sectors Program, which we started within the scope of the Turkey - European Union financial cooperation process, especially in the last period. We are going through a fruitful period in which we are launching projects one after the other. The continuation of the effective and efficient cooperation that we have achieved in the Competitive Sectors Program with the European Union, with the ENHANCER project.” said.

WE WILL IMPROVE ENTREPRENEURSHIP CAPACITY

Stating that the ENHANCER Project, which was implemented in 2020, has an important mission in improving the entrepreneurial capacity, Minister Varank said, “32,5 different grant programs have been announced within the scope of the project, which has a budget of 5 million Euros. Approximately 117 million Euros were allocated to 11 projects.” said.

Varank stated that as the ministry, they place the top priority on entrepreneurship and said, “We have set many targets for entrepreneurship in the 2023 Industry and Technology Strategy, which we have prepared in the light of the vision of the National Technology Move under the leadership of our President. Underlining that Turkey is Europe's shining star in entrepreneurship, Varank said, "Without a doubt, ENHANCER, the Entrepreneurial Capacities Improvement Project for Sustainable Socio-Economic Harmony, will contribute to this acceleration of Turkey with its budget and targets." said.

SUPPORT TO EMPLOYMENT

EU Commission Neighborhood and Enlargement Commissioner Varhelyi stated that with the ENHANCER Project, the European Union will provide a fund of 32.5 million Euros to small and medium-sized enterprises and that they will support the creation of employment in this field.

NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Explaining that with ENHANCER, they aim to create 200 sustainable jobs, establish 300 new workplaces, and provide 400 new job opportunities to entrepreneurs through business meetings, Varhelyi said, “We also support the development of new products and access to the market.” said.

ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL HARMONY

ICMPD's Migration Dialogue and Coordination Director Pluim emphasized that the ENHANCER Project was implemented to increase Turkey's entrepreneurial capacity, and stated that their primary goal is social and economic cohesion.

CONTRIBUTION OF THE PROJECT TO TURKEY

After the ceremony, Development Agencies Deputy General Manager Ahmet Şimşek and ICMPD Western Balkans and Turkey Regional President Tamer Kılıç shared their “ENHANCER Project Experience, Contribution of Socio-Economic Adaptation Projects to the General Development of Turkey” with the participants.

In addition, a question-answer session was held, moderated by ICMPD Portfolio Manager Pınar Yapanoğlu.

TARGET ENTREPRENEURSHIP

ENHANCER will continue until the end of 2023. The project aims to contribute to the entrepreneurial culture in Turkey by improving entrepreneurship and livelihood opportunities. Within the scope of the project, it is aimed to increase entrepreneurial activities, to develop the local entrepreneurship ecosystem to provide effective and inclusive services, and to strengthen policy, implementation and coordination at the central and local level.

APPLIED IN 11 PROVINCES

Project; It is implemented in 11 provinces, namely Istanbul, Şanlıurfa, Gaziantep, Adana, Mersin, Bursa, İzmir, Ankara, Konya, Kayseri and Hatay. In the project, various services and supports are provided to increase the tendency of entrepreneur candidates to start a business, as well as to increase the success and growth opportunities of newly established companies or companies with growth potential.

CERTIFICATE TO SUCCESSFUL PROJECTS

Minister Varank and Commissioner Varhelyi gave their certificates to 26 participants representing 7 successful projects in the program. Institutions and organizations that have received their certificates are as follows:
