Protection of Personal Data in Media Symposium Started

The 1st National Symposium on the Protection of Personal Data in Audio-Visual Media, organized with the cooperation of the Personal Data Protection Board (KVKK) and the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) and with the contributions of Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University, was held with the participation of Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun. In the symposium attended by the representatives of the Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD), sessions were held on privacy in the audio-visual media, the processing and protection of personal data, and the control of the protection of personal data in the field of audio-visual broadcasting.

Speaking at the symposium, Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun; He stated that the media, an area where information is produced, reproduced and disseminated, has experienced much faster and more significant changes compared to the previous period, and media culture has changed dramatically in the recent period. Stating that the speed of technological change has led to the emergence of new and autonomous social spaces, Altun explained that digitalization has transformed the established understandings in the media and traditional ways of doing business, and this situation brings both opportunities and challenges. Presidential Communications Director Altun pointed out that the fact that personal privacy is within the scope of fundamental rights and has a critical importance in social life requires special attention in this area. Fahrettin Altun thanked RTÜK, KVKK and Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University for their efforts in organizing the symposium.

RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin and KVKK President Prof. Dr. Faruk Bilir presented a plaque to Presidential Communications Director Altun.
