The Social Media Working Group, established under the General Directorate of Child Services of the Ministry of Family and Social Services, works in cooperation with the relevant institutions to prevent or remove content that may adversely affect the development of children, whether written or visually, on the internet and social media, and that contains elements of neglect, abuse and crime. Social Media Working Group, which has been monitoring content on a 2017/7 basis in the Ministry since 24, has intervened to remove or block a total of 1555 content to date.

How does the Social Media Working Group work?
The Social Media Working Group was established in 2017 under the General Directorate of Child Services of the Ministry of Family and Social Services in order to identify the threats that children may encounter in digital environments, to take protective and preventive activities and to take measures.
The Social Media Working Group undertakes the task of carrying out both institutional and inter-agency intervention processes for content on the internet that may adversely affect children's development, where children are exposed or may be exposed to neglect and abuse.
In this context, regarding the determinations of the Social Media Working Group, the Ministry's General Directorate of Legal Services applies to the judicial authorities, requesting the blocking/removal of content and filing a criminal complaint about the matters that constitute a crime. In addition, judicial bodies are applied to take measures when necessary regarding the issues transferred to the provincial directorates, and the measures given by the courts regarding children and in the field of social services of the Ministry are promptly implemented.
The Social Media Working Group cooperates with the Information Technologies and Communications Authority (BTK), the General Directorate of Security, Department of Combating Cybercrime, and the Radio and Television Supreme Council in the process of combating and responding to the content in question.
Content that may negatively affect children's development is immediately reported to BTK to be removed/blocked within the scope of Law No. 5651 on Regulating Internet Broadcasts and Combating Crimes Committed Through These Broadcasts, taking into account the multiplier effect of the spreading speed of sharing on the Internet.
Contents containing child neglect and abuse are forwarded to the EGM Cybercrime Department for address detection and URL address determination and, if necessary, to the Ministry's General Directorate of Legal Services for judicial process.
