Electric Vehicle Battery Production Increases By 101 Percent In China

In September, when China was booming in clean-energy vehicle production, the country's installed battery power capacity saw rapid growth, as industry data show.

Last month, battery energy installed capacity for new-energy vehicles increased by 101,6 percent compared to September of the previous year, reaching 31,6 gigawatt hours (GWh), the China Automobile Manufacturers Association reported.

In particular, approximately 20,4 GWh of lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries have been installed in new energy vehicles. This represents an increase of 113,8 percent compared to a year ago, accounting for 64,5 percent of total monthly batteries.

On the other hand, the Chinese new energy market continued its growth rate in September as well. Again, the China Automobile Manufacturers Association announced that new energy vehicle sales reached 93,9 thousand units in the month in question with an increase of 708 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
