Disabled Youth Experienced the Joy of Military Service in Mersin

33 disabled young people became a soldier for a day in Silifke district of Mersin. Soldier henna was also applied to the young people who came together in the Atatürk Monument Square in the district center with their camouflages.

With the cooperation of Silifke Municipality and non-governmental organizations, an event was held at Atatürk Memorial Square for 33 young people with special needs who have reached the age of military service.

Wearing their uniforms for their representative military service, the youth took an oath by pressing the Turkish flag.

After the swearing-in ceremony, a military henna party was held in the recreation area of ​​the municipality for the young people who toured the city with their vehicles. Henna was applied to the hands of the youth accompanied by prayers.

Received Representative Military Training

Silifke Mayor Sadık Altunok stated that the event was meaningful.

Silifke Special Children's Interaction Association President Fulya Arslan also expressed that they are excited and happy.

Thanking those who contributed to the event, Arslan said, “I have 33 special angels. All of them were of military age, but unfortunately they were exempt from military service. As their families, we were very sad about this situation. We shared this situation with our Silifke Mayor. He gave us a very nice military service ceremony. Our children received 1-2 hours of military training in Silifke District Gendarmerie Command. We did the swearing-in ceremonies. We read the Quran and burned the henna.”

No Barriers to Patriotism

Retired Police Officer Akif Akkoç also said that his son was excited and happy for military service, even if it was for a day.
Bayram stated that he was honored to have his son become a soldier in Sivas, even for one day, and thanked the organizers of the event.
