Our Minister of Family and Social Services, Derya Yanık, stated that they will implement a new support for social assistance beneficiary women who have passed away and said, “We will provide 2.023 housing units within the scope of the Housing Support Program for Widowed Women. With a total budget of 607 million TL, we will support 300 thousand TL per household.” What are the conditions for applying for housing support to women whose spouse has passed away?
Minister Yanık made a statement regarding the scope of the housing project and stated that social assistance beneficiary women who have at least 18 children under the age of 3 and whose spouse has passed away can benefit from the said support.
Stating that they will be in cooperation with municipalities and philanthropists in the provinces within the scope of the Housing Support Program for Widowed Women, Minister Yanık shared the details as follows:
“We are implementing the housing project for our widowed and social assistance beneficiary women. We will provide our support in two different ways, in the form of housing construction or purchasing. The residences will be built to be 80 square meters. If the houses are purchased, those close to this property will be preferred. While the Ministry will support 300 thousand TL per house, the needed resources will be met by municipalities and philanthropists. The property will be owned by the Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations (SYDV). We will give free usage rights to rights holders.”
Collaboration with municipalities and philanthropists
Minister Yanık stated that the cooperation with municipalities and philanthropists continues within the scope of the housing project, and said, “We will provide 2.023 houses within the scope of the Housing Support Program for Widowed Women. With a total budget of 607 million TL, we will support 300 thousand TL per household. We informed our 78 SYDVs about the implementation of the program in cooperation with municipalities and philanthropists, especially with Metropolitan Municipalities. So far, cooperation protocols have been signed in 4 provinces, namely Osmaniye, Kahramanmaraş, Samsun and Bingöl. In addition, for the realization of the project, our 67 SYDVs continue to prepare protocols for land procurement, project studies, and additional resources for the project budget.”
Conditions for benefiting from support have been determined
In order to benefit from the housing for which the Housing Support Program for Widowed Women will be made;
- being a Turkish citizen
- Being a beneficiary within the scope of Social Assistance and Solidarity Encouragement Law No. 3294
- Having the characteristics of a family with multiple children, the other spouse of whom has passed away, provided that it has a household with at least three children under the age of 18,
- To reside in the province where the residences are built,
- It will be necessary to meet the conditions of not receiving support within the scope of the housing assistance program, including the Social Housing Project of the Ministry.
