While Samsun Metropolitan Municipality prepares the city for the future with its investment projects, it also continues its studies on the use of renewable energy sources. The municipality, which is preparing to establish the largest Solar Power Plant (GES) in northern Turkey in the district of Ladik, wants to tender the project as soon as possible. Stating that the power plant will provide significant benefits to the city, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir noted that they will find the opportunity to invest more in Samsun. Thanks to the project, 130 million TL will be earned annually.

Continuing its projects that will bring vision to Samsun, the center of the Black Sea Region, the Metropolitan Municipality attaches great importance to renewable energy sources against climate change caused by global warming. The Metropolitan Municipality, which draws attention with its environmental projects within the scope of combating climate change, which causes air, water and soil pollution problems, turns to renewable energy sources such as wind, water and sun to reduce energy consumption.

TENDER PROCESS IS WAITING

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, which aims to supply the electricity consumed by the institution from solar and wind energy, is waiting for the completion of the tender process for the SPP project. If the expected price in the tender does not occur, the municipality will bring the investment to the city itself. Under the responsibility of the Environmental Protection and Control Department, the municipality will be able to generate electricity for 685 years with the project to be implemented on an area of 30 thousand decares in Büyükalan Mahallesi.

130 MILLION TL EARNINGS

With the facility, which will have a power of 45 megawatts at the first stage, it is expected to provide an annual income of 100 million TL in electricity consumption. After the start of the SPP investment, the Metropolitan Municipality, which will accelerate the Wind Power Plant (RES) project works, aims to earn 30 Million TL per year from this.

RENEWABLE ENERGY IS VERY IMPORTANT

Providing information about the developments in the SPP project, Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir said, “We are in a period where we have to make use of renewable energy sources as much as possible. The GES project is one of them, and it will be a very important investment for the future of our city. We have made all our preparations and we are waiting for the completion of the tender process. Thus, we will give the start of the project investment. If we experience the opposite situation, we, as the municipality, will build the power plant by signing another first in Turkey.
