The 21th Bosphorus Film Festival, which will meet with its audience between October 28-10 this year, started with the opening ceremony held at Atlas 1948 Cinema and the screening of Michal Blaško's film “Victim”.

The opening ceremony of the 10th Bosphorus Film Festival, organized by the Bosphorus Culture and Arts Foundation, was held on Friday, 21 October at the Atlas 1948 Cinema. “Honorary Award” was presented to master director Lav Diaz at the opening ceremony.

In the night, where the festival program was also introduced, the first speech was made by Ogün Şanlıer, Chairman of the Bosphorus Film Festival and Boğaziçi Culture and Arts Foundation. Şanlıer, in his speech, said, “We are happy to have succeeded in being one of the most important national and international events held in our country in a short period of time for the festivals.” said. He also emphasized that the festival has now reached double figures and stated that they are proud of reaching the point they had targeted 10 years ago. Thanking all the institutions and sponsors who supported the festival, Şanlıer also thanked the festival team and invited them to the stage.

In his speech, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ahmet Misbah Demircan emphasized that cinema has an important collector role and said, “There is a lot of work to tell and do. This team also makes great efforts for the sake of art, for the sake of introducing cinema and the cultures of the world to each other. It is good that you are involved in this effort.” he said.

Honor Award to Lav Diaz

After the speeches, the Philippine director Lav Diaz was presented with the “Honorary Award”. The award was presented to Diaz by Ogün Şanlıer, Chairman of the Bosphorus Film Festival and Bogazici Culture and Arts Foundation. Şanlıer stated that Lav Diaz, one of the most important voices of contemporary cinema, has written her name in world cinema in golden letters with her epic portraits and that they are honored to host her at the Bosphorus Film Festival.

Lav Diaz, in her speech pointing out the transformative power of cinema, also drew attention to the wars in the world and said, "Cinema will be successful despite the war." said.

After the speeches and award presentation, the opening movie "Victim" was screened. Koray Abay hosted the night. Also at the ceremony, Boğaziçi Culture and Arts Foundation Board Member Fecir Alptekin presented plaques to Turkish Airlines Corporate Communications President Rafet Fatih Özgür, and Boğaziçi Film Festival President Ogün Şanlıer to Anadolu Agency Project Management Coordinator Oğuz Karakaş and TRT Deputy General Manager Muhammed Ziyad Varol. was done.
