Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services First and Emergency Aid Program Head Lecturer Ayşe Bağlı evaluated the importance of first aid in her statement on the occasion of World First Aid Day.

Bagli defined first aid as “life-saving attempts made by the people present at the scene, without seeking medical equipment, with available means, in any accident or life-threatening situation, until the help of the paramedics is provided”.

Pointing out the importance of first aid, Ayşe Bağlı said, “With first aid applications, it is tried to eliminate the danger to life, maintain vital functions, prevent the worsening of the condition of the sick or injured, and facilitate recovery. First aid is necessary and important in this respect.” said.

The Head of First and Emergency Aid Program, Ayşe Bağlı, drew attention to the most wrong behaviors in first aid and listed these behaviors as follows:

  • Throwing the head back in nosebleeds,
  • slap the fainted person,
  • Making the patient with a seizure smell an onion or trying to put a spoon in his mouth,
  • remove the sinking object,
  • Rubbing the frozen area with snow,
  • Trying to induce vomiting in every poisoning situation,
  • Performing CPR on every unconscious patient such as fainting or choking,
  • Moving the patient in case of fall and accident,
