Tourism Centered Airports Served 32 Million 440 Thousand Passengers This Summer

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu announced that 32 million 440 thousand passengers were served at the airports in tourism centers this summer, and drew attention to the fact that the number of passengers served at these airports increased by 59 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu made a written statement regarding the passenger and aircraft traffic at the airports during the summer period. Karaismailoğlu, who stated that the activity increased at the airports in the tourism centers between April 15 and September 15, said, “Especially, at Antalya Airport, İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport, Muğla Dalaman Airport, Muğla Milas-Bodrum Airport, Gazipaşa Alanya Airport and Cappadocia Airport, both for passengers and planes. The increase in traffic is noticeable. The number of passengers served at these airports in the summer period was 8 million 249 thousand, 24 million 191 thousand on domestic flights and 32 million 440 thousand on international flights. In the same period of 2021, there was a 20 percent increase in passenger traffic compared to last year at our airports, where 445 million 59 thousand passengers are used.

206 THOUSAND 978 AIRCRAFT TRAFFIC REALIZED

Announcing that the aircraft traffic is 58 thousand 584 on domestic lines and 148 thousand 394 on international lines, a total of 206 thousand 978, Karaismailoğlu continued his statement as follows:

“At İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport, we hosted a total of 2 million 649 thousand passengers, 2 million 318 thousand on domestic flights and 4 million 967 thousand on international flights. At Antalya Airport, we served 2 million 826 thousand domestic and 17 million 955 thousand international passengers. In total, 20 million 782 thousand passenger traffic was realized. On August 20, 194 thousand 676 passengers and 1094 aircraft traffic were broken at this airport, the record of the post-epidemic. At Muğla Dalaman Airport, the number of domestic passengers was 1 million 20 thousand, the number of international passengers was 2 million 259 thousand, and the total passenger traffic was 3 million 279 thousand.

Emphasizing that 2 million 794 thousand passengers were hosted at Muğla Milas-Bodrum Airport and 410 thousand 324 passengers were hosted at Gazipaşa Alanya Airport, Karaismailoğlu stated that the passenger traffic at Cappadocia Airport was 207 thousand 438.

WE INCREASED CAPACITY AT AIRPORTS WITH INVESTMENTS

Noting that they have fit the investments to be made in 100 years to 20 years, Karaismailoğlu pointed out that the capacity of the airports has been increased with the investments made as in every mode of transportation. Drawing attention to the chaos experienced at the airports in Europe, Karaismailoğlu stated that there is comfort at the airports in Turkey, and that passengers and passengers are hosted without any problems at the environmentally friendly airports. Underlining that the number of airports has been increased from 26 to 57, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu emphasized that investments in the aviation sector continue without slowing down.
