The natural gas problem in the extreme districts of Istanbul is being solved neighborhood by neighborhood. İGDAŞ turned 18 years of waiting into joy and brought natural gas to Yalıköy district of Çatalca. Speaking at the ceremony, IBB Secretary General Can Akın Çağlar said, "We have allocated nearly half of our 65 billion lira budget this year to investments."

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) brought the residents of Yalıköy neighborhood of Çatalca to a cleaner and more comfortable life. Çatalca Yalıköy Neighborhood First Natural Gas Delivery Ceremony was held with the participation of İBB Secretary General Can Akın Çağlar and İGDAŞ General Manager Mithat Bülent Özmen.

Although natural gas was delivered to Çatalca in 2004, the necessary infrastructure was not brought to many neighborhoods for many years. This problem, which has become a chronic problem for 18 years in the Yalıköy neighborhood on the Black Sea coast of the district and cannot be solved, has been resolved by İGDAŞ.

INVEST HALF OF THE BUDGET

Speaking at the ceremony, İBB Secretary General Can Akın Çağlar said that they brought together the investments and services made for 3 years with the people of Istanbul within the framework of the vision of “150 Projects in 150 Days”. In this context, Çağlar stated that they expanded the natural gas network in Istanbul to the extreme points of Istanbul, and drew attention to the fact that thousands of workers within the body of İGDAŞ worked day and night to deliver natural gas to every home by traveling many kilometers.

Stating that they work day and night with 86 thousand İBB employees in order to provide equal service to every corner of Istanbul, which they dream of making a green, fair and creative city, Çağlar said:

“Istanbul is getting stronger with investments. We have allocated almost half of our 65 billion lira budget this year to investments. In order to solve the transportation issue, which is the most important problem, we allocate half of our investment budget to rail systems. We allocate 10 billion liras to infrastructure investments in every corner of the city. We are making serious efforts to improve maritime transportation, which has been neglected for years. For the first time in IMM history, we are building nurseries and dormitories for the development of children and youth in the field of social investments.

12 KM REMOTE LINE WITHDRAWN

No profit was pursued and no investment expense was spared in order to provide the Yalıköy neighborhood of Çatalca with clean and comfortable energy. Production was made from Karacaköy, which is 12 km away from the neighborhood, and the natural gas line was installed. Necessary permits were obtained for the project route remaining in the forest area.

In the region, 30 km of PE lines, 500 service boxes were installed, and stream crossings were completed with horizontal drillings at five points and gas was supplied. Thus, heating and hot water problems, which have become one of today's most basic needs, were eliminated. In addition, since the use of coal will decrease, a cleaner and more comfortable life has been provided. The number of users of the project was determined as 1.100 households.
