The “Izmirlian” brand of IzTarm was introduced to the world at the Terra Madre Anatolian Fair. The products prepared for sale in three categories as milk, meat and herbal in order to make the small producer an exporter received full marks from those who tried it. Stating that they have purchased 18,5 million liras worth of milk from the producers from İzmir at the meeting, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Soyer said, “We are taking the first step towards our goal of making the small producer an exporter.”

The “İzmirli” brand of İztarı A.Ş., one of the companies of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, was introduced to the world at the Terra Madre Anatolia Fair, which was held simultaneously with the 91st İzmir International Fair. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor on the Kitchen Show stage Tunç Soyer Governor of Izmir Yavuz Selim Koşger, guests and chefs from all over Turkey attended the introductory meeting hosted by Neptün Soyer and his wife.

We bought milk worth approximately 658 million liras. We did a study about it. Now, today, we have produced many different cheeses from buffalo milk, buffalo cream, goat's milk goat's ice cream, sheep and goat's milk, and we have started a study that will direct each of them to export. With the products we obtain from the milk produced by those shepherds, we are taking the first step of their becoming an exporter. Because we have done many things, from packaging to design, with the work we carried out at the İzmir Agricultural Development Center. We are very excited because we have taken the first step of our goal of making the small producer an exporter with the occasion of Terra Madre. Good luck to Izmir," he said.

“Izmir's shepherds are richer now”

Murat Onkardeşler, General Manager of İzArim, made a presentation about the success story of the “İzmirli” brand from highland to export. Onkardeşler said, “Our 'Izmirli' brand is not just a food brand. It has deep responsibilities and goals behind it. 'İzmirli' is a brand that emerged to eliminate three main problems: fight against poverty, fight against drought and food security. The producers whose meat and milk we buy come together under the roof of the cooperative and sell the products they produce to us with a collective consciousness. This year, we have almost doubled the price of sheep and goat milk by regulating our purchasing policy. In this way, our producers protect their herds and prepare for next year's milk season. İzmir's shepherds are now richer and more prosperous.”

After the meeting, the guests, in the promotion area, Deputy Chairman of the Turkish Cooks Federation Assoc. Dr. He tasted the pasta prepared by Turgay Bucak and his team with karakılçık macaroni and İzmirli cheese.

Within the scope of Mera İzmir Project, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality produced the first shepherd's map of Turkey by knocking on the doors of 4 shepherds one by one, and according to this map, they bought sheep and goat milk from the producers for twice the market and rolled up its sleeves for production. The Metropolitan Municipality, which processes the milk it collects and transforms it into a product with high added value under the brand "İzmirli", started production by processing meat and herbal products from the producer as well as dairy products under the brand "İzmirli". Cheese, yoghurt, butter, ice cream, pasteurized milk, uht dairy products were prepared for sale in the dairy products category, sausage, pastrami, roasted, hamburger meatballs, grilled meatballs in the meat products category, and karakılçık flour and karakılçık pasta in the herbal products category. “İzmirli” brand; It aims to fight poverty by supporting small producers and cooperatives, and to fight drought by using climate-friendly production methods, and to ensure food security by bringing healthy products to consumers.
