Sugar Beet Purchase Price Has Been Determined

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Vahit Kirişci announced at the Kars Sugar Factory Beet Purchase Campaign Ceremony that the purchase price of sugar beet in 2022 will be 400 TL per ton.

Minister Kirişci made the following statements in his statement:

“Due to the uncertainties and risks arising in the global economy, the strategic importance of sugar production has increased even more today. For this reason, I wholeheartedly believe that we will do all kinds of sacrifices and works that will please our farmers. Both the private sector and our public enterprises will definitely have a sound approach in this regard. Our government, under the leadership of our President, will continue to stand by our producer as always. I would like to state that we are determined not to compromise with our agricultural supports as well as our practices that will protect the rights of labor. In every meeting, we say that you produce the highest pitch is enough. Because without producing, it is not possible for this country to become a welfare country, to develop and to be among the developed countries.

We will continue to support our sugar beet producers with this understanding. As you know, the base purchase price of 1 ton A quota sugar beet has been determined as 2021 TL for the product of 420. However, taking into account the developments in global energy and input costs, we made an additional 2021 TL premium support payment for each ton of the 15 beet base purchase price. Thus, approximately 100 million TL of support was provided to our beet producers.

As of today, we have completed the necessary work in order to protect our farmers against increasing input costs and expensiveness for 2022 season purchases. We announce this year's sugar beet purchase price as 400 TL per ton. In addition, producers who have completed their beet production quota will be given an additional 50 TL quota completion premium per ton. Thus, the purchase price of sugar beet increased by 245 percent and reached 450 TL per ton.”

The statement of Minister Kirişci on the subject published on Twitter is as follows:

“We have increased our sugar beet purchase prices by 245 percent compared to the previous year, and set it to 400 TL. In addition, we will give a quota completion premium of 50 TL per ton to our producers who have completed their beet production quota. Good luck, good luck."
