The Northern Marmara Highway (KMO) took part in the Road2Tunnel Fair for the first time this year. KMO, which has the widest four-lane tunnels and smart transportation systems in the world, was greeted with interest by the exhibitors.

This year, more than 2 exhibitors, more than 150 qualified visitors, industry experts from 5.000 different countries, highway administration officials from 35 different countries and protocol participants took part in the Road10Tunnel fair, hosted by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.

KMO General Manager Aynur Uluğtekin, who mentioned that they took part as KMO for the first time in the fair, where the TRANCITY – Urban Transportation Systems and Technologies Forum and the 3rd Metro Rail Systems Forum took place, made the following statements about the fair: “Turkey's important infrastructure and superstructure The fair, which brings together the projects of our country, is an extremely important organization in terms of reflecting the level our country has reached in the world. As KMO, which we have equipped with the world's widest tunnels and smart transportation systems on a line of 435 kilometers, we also took our place in the fair. We had a productive fair in terms of following the dynamics of the sector, transferring our technologies and experiences, and getting information about future projects through bilateral meetings between companies.”

Equipped with smart transportation systems technology in order to ensure the safety of highway users, KMO has 2360 cameras, 93 variable message signs, 165 variable traffic signs, 77 traffic counting sensors, 23 meteorology stations and Scada tunnel / highway security system located along the highway route. followed by data. It is aimed to provide uninterrupted, comfortable and high standards of highway traffic service by quickly responding to incidents that occur in the KMO, which is monitored 7/24 from one main and two sub-control centers, and highway traffic safety is controlled.

Serving as two separate locations, between Silivri-Kınalı junction and Eyüp-Odayeri on the European side, and between Pendik-Kurnaköy and Akyazı on the Anatolian side, KMO offers a total of 435 kilometers of highway route that joins the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and Istanbul Airport connection roads, especially the Bosphorus. It significantly reduces the traffic load that is above the capacity at the crossings.
