KARAİSMAİLOĞLU: GAZİRAY PROJECT WILL BE ONE OF OUR IMPORTANT URBAN RAIL SYSTEM PROJECTS

In his statement, Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu, who described Gaziantep as the "Peple City of the World", stated that the test drive was successful and said:

“We also examined the works on the route, at the stops and at the Gaziantep Train Station, where we are with you right now. The GAZİRAY Project, the construction of which was started by our ministry in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, will be one of our important urban rail system projects. The most important way to eliminate the traffic problem, especially in our big cities in parallel with the increasing population and number of vehicles, is to expand the rail systems. After giant projects such as Marmaray in Istanbul, İZBAN in İzmir and BAŞKENTRAY in Ankara, we are experiencing the excitement and happiness of bringing GAZİRAY to the people of Gaziantep in the coming days. As the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we are very happy to work and produce ideas and projects for the welfare of our country and the future of our children. If there is a project, we have hope and excitement for welfare, future jobs, food, trade, economic growth, and the future of our children.”

A GIANT INVESTMENT OF APPROXIMATELY 5 BILLION TL

Minister Karaismailoğlu emphasized that GAZİRAY is one of the exemplary projects and gave the following information about the project:

“The GAZİRAY project was developed with the cooperation of our General Directorate of TCDD and Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality within the scope of the development of the urban rail system network. With a giant investment of approximately 5 billion liras, we will connect the city center of Gaziantep and two industrial zones, and give a breath of fresh air to urban traffic. Within the scope of the project, we built 25,5 lines of electrified and signaled railway lines, 2 high-speed train lines and 2 suburban lines, on a route of 4 kilometers. We built 16 stations, 5,5 cut-and-cover tunnels with a total length of 2 kilometers, 1 bridge, 12 under/overpasses and 26 culverts. In addition, the electric train sets to be used in GAZİRAY are produced by TÜRASAŞ, the largest representative of the rail systems sector in our country. The fact that our vehicles to be used in GAZİRA are domestic and national is another source of joy and pride. We continue the test drives in our project and are in the final stage of the certification process. We had a very successful test drive. Today, we will leave Gaziantep to meet at the opening of our line and when we come to Gaziantep soon, we will come to put GAZİRAY into service.”

GAZIANTEP METROPOLITAN IS MANAGED WITH A MUNICIPAL APPROACH THAT CATCHES THE APPROACH OF SERVING THE NATION

Stating that over 20 billion TL has been invested in Gaziantep as a ministry in the last 20 years, Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that the high-speed train network starting from Istanbul is continuing to reach Gaziantep, reminding the new airport terminal building.

In the last part of his speech, Karaismailoğlu underlined that the progress made in municipalism and the wishes of the people were kept in the foreground, and concluded his speech as follows:

“Remember that our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is also a President who comes from the municipality, knows this business very well and attaches great importance to the municipality. Turkey has come a long way in municipal management under his leadership. Today, as in Gaziantep, the best examples of municipality and service to the nation continue to be given. Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality is managed with a municipal understanding that has this horizon and has achieved this success. The GAZİRAY project is one of the most important and beautiful examples of this understanding. A real cooperation that has been implemented to serve the citizens with the cooperation of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality. It is a true manifestation of our ancestors' understanding of 'let people live so that the state can live'. This motto has always been the guide of the AK Party, AK Party governments and AK Party municipalities and will continue to do so in the future. I would like to state that we will continue to support all projects that are rational and meet the needs of our nation for the development and growth of Gaziantep.

ŞAHİN: TODAY, WE ARE ONE OF THE WORLD'S MOST CITIES IN EXPORT, THANKS TO THESE INVESTMENTS.

President Fatma Şahin thanked the Ministry of Transport and Minister Karaismailoğlu for their support and expressed the following:

“If you have switched to light rail in the infrastructure of a civilization city, if you have created the infrastructure of climate-friendly and environmentally friendly transportation, you are so successful. We are the champion city of OECD countries. We are the EBRD's green city. Today, with the work and support of my minister and his team, we have seen how environment-friendly, climate-friendly transportation can be provided in a civilization city, how safe, comfortable and healthy transportation can be provided. We are here to make an example of this happen. This line is so important that we have 250 thousand employees, hundreds of engineers and dozens of business people in our organized industrial zones. Likewise in the small industry, our masters, journeymen, apprentices. We are a complete production base. Thanks to these investments, we are one of the few cities in the world in exports today.”

HOW THE CITY IS PLANNED, HOW IT IS IMPLEMENTED IF YOU WANT TO SEE THIS, COME TO GAZIANTEP

In the last part of his speech, Şahin stated that the city is now upgrading and concluded his speech with the following statement:

“It's gotten to the point where the high-speed train really deserves the high-speed train. We went underground at 5 km. We actually brought the metro to the hotels and hospitals area. 5 km underground means that there is a metro to the city, and there is a green area of 50 thousand square meters above the ground. Besides, we brought green space to the city, how can a child-friendly, youth-friendly, family-friendly city be? If you want to see how the city is planned and implemented, please come to Gaziantep. I say now is the time to come to Gaziantep.”
