Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyercontinues its efforts to improve İzmir tourism. The President, who brought cruise ships back to the city after a 6-year hiatus. Tunç Soyer, returned from the Seatrade Cruise Med 14 fair, which brought together the leading cruise tourism stakeholders of the Mediterranean and neighboring seas in Spain, on 15-2022 September with many achievements.

In meetings with industry organizations such as “Clia”, the world's largest cruise industry trade association, of which the most prestigious cruise companies are members, and “Medcruise”, which operates in 22 countries and 145 cruise ports on three different continents, it was decided to host the big events organized by the organizations. The procedure for Izmir's Medcruise membership has also been initiated.
Delegation will go to five cities from Izmir
Within the scope of the fair, the Izmir delegation had high-level contacts, particularly Pierfrancesco Vago, Chairman of the International Association of Cruise Lines (CLIA) and Chairman of MSC Crociere, Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Crociere, and Chris Theophilides, CEO of Celestyal. Meetings were held with 14 companies and representatives of 4 different institutions. As a result, it was agreed that the necessary works for more cruise ships to come to Izmir should be done in Izmir and within the structure of cruise companies. In addition, delegations from Izmir are planned to go to Monaco, Geneva, Genoa, South Hampton and Hamburg, where the headquarters of cruise companies are concentrated, in order to monitor these processes. It is also aimed to organize trips promoting İzmir to cruise companies and the sector.

The Tourism Information Office in the port was renovated and special walking routes were created. The expert staff of the Tourism Branch Office provides information with maps when the ships dock. Free Wifi service is provided in the port for the use of guests. In addition, tourists' safe travel opportunities in the city were increased with the Tourism Police teams.
