As of September 1 (today), natural gas and electricity prices were hiked. The unit price of natural gas used in residences increased by 20,4%. While a 50,8 percent increase was made in the industry, the unit price of natural gas used in electricity production increased by 49,5 percent. On the other hand, there was a 20 percent hike in electricity tariffs for residential subscribers. While the rate of increase in industrial subscribers was 50 percent, a 30 percent increase was made in the tariff of commercial subscribers.

According to the statement made by BOTAŞ; The sales price of natural gas used for electricity generation was increased by 49,5 percent, the sales price of natural gas used in industry was increased by 50,8 percent and the sales price of natural gas used in residences was increased by 20,4 percent.
The natural gas tariff table for September has been published on the website of Boru Hatları ve Petrol Taşıma AŞ (BOTAŞ). Accordingly, there was a 20 percent hike in natural gas.

As it is known, natural gas is an imported energy source, and more than 99 percent of it is supplied from foreign supply sources within the framework of international agreements.
Due to the increasing natural gas demand with the decrease of the effect of the pandemic in the world, there has been a high increase in natural gas prices in the global energy markets, and this situation is well known and followed by the public. In addition, after the war between Russia and Ukraine, which is Europe's largest natural gas supplier, the increase in natural gas prices continued to increase and there was an increase of up to 2000% in natural gas prices in the global markets compared to the pre-pandemic period. On the other hand, high natural gas prices in global markets have not been reflected to our consumers at the same rate until today.
On the other hand, according to the independent publication Household Energy Price Index (HEPI-Household Energy Price Index) and EUROSTAT data, natural gas with the lowest price among European countries is used in residences and industrial establishments.
As of September 1, 2022, unfortunately, it has become mandatory to make a regulation in natural gas sales prices in a way that will affect our consumers at the minimum level within the framework of possibilities. In this context, effective from 1 September 2022;
An average of 20,4 percent in the final sales prices of natural gas used in residences.
Average 47,6% in the final sales prices of natural gas used in Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises
An average of 50,8 percent in the final sales prices of natural gas used in industry.
Average 49,5 percent of the final sales prices of natural gas used for electricity generation
has been increased.
Despite these increases, more than 80 percent support continues to be given to our consumers, especially in natural gas used in residences.”
ELECTRICITY AT A TIME
After natural gas, a hike came to electricity. Percentage of electricity used in residences as of September 20 zam has been announced.
Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) reported that a 20 percent increase was made in the electricity tariff, which will be valid as of September for residences.
In the statement made by EMRA, it was noted:
- The war between Russia and Ukraine, which started at a time when the effects of the pandemic continued to have an impact on global economies, brought heavy consequences for all world energy markets, especially for European countries.
- In this process, which is also interpreted as the 'global energy crisis', extraordinary increases were experienced in almost all raw material prices, which also negatively affected the energy production costs in our country.
- Especially in recent months, due to the fact that the increases in energy raw material prices in the global markets have exceeded certain levels, the final electricity tariffs have been increased by 20% for the residential and agricultural activities subscriber groups, 30% for the public and private services sector and other subscribers, and 50% for the industrial subscriber group. With this increase, the amount to be paid for a residential subscriber with 100 kWh electricity consumption has become 173,46 TL.
- The new tariffs will come into effect as of September 1, 2022.
