Emirates won three awards at the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2022, including World's Best Economy Class, World's Best Economy Class Catering, and World's Best Inflight Entertainment for the 17th consecutive year.
The awards from Skytrax come after the airline announced that it has invested over US$2 billion to improve the in-flight passenger experience. This includes one of the airline's largest retrofit projects, covering 120 aircraft that will soon showcase its latest interior concepts, a new hospitality-focused service delivery model, and best-in-class product enhancements across all cabins from this year. Emirates is also preparing to invest over US$350 million in next-generation inflight entertainment with Thales. The investment will be made for passengers to enjoy the high-tech features of the A350 aircraft fleet and the huge entertainment library of 5.000 channels on the airline's high-definition screens.
Awarded for the 17th time this year by Skytrax, ice, the inflight entertainment system, offers 4.000 hours of movies and TV, nearly 3.500 hours of music and podcasts, and more than 5.000 entertainment channels. Passengers can also select content in 40 languages. In addition to entertainment, Emirates ice offers a number of useful features such as: checking flight status; real-time sky view from cameras fixed to the nose, tail and belly of the aircraft during takeoff and landing; Emirates RED; The world's first in-flight TV shopping channel and LIVE TV. Emirates is also the first airline to partner with HBO Max in the region.
