Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, which has made its service building a zero-emission building by signing a first in Turkey, has been awarded the 'Climate Friendly Organization' certificate from the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE).

BOZOVA GES IS IN SERVICE END OF SEPTEMBER
President Muhittin Böcek, stated that they continue their work with the goal of "Environmental and Nature Friendly Antalya". Stating that they have taken the greenhouse gas inventory of Antalya, the President Muhittin Böceknoted that the municipality has 6.4 solar power plants with an installed capacity of 11 megawatts, which generate energy from the sun. Giving the good news that Korkuteli Bozova-1 SPP will also be operational by the end of September, Muhittin Böcek“In 2023, we plan to increase the number of SPP power plants to 18, and to double the production. We provide an average of 74 percent energy support to our farmers in agricultural irrigation from SPPs. Our 11 clean energy production facilities with an installed capacity of 4 megawatts, including 1 GES, 46 biomass and 16 waste heat energy facilities, are worth meeting the electrical energy of an average of 141 households per month. Stating that they are also doing a lot of work within the scope of environmentally friendly transportation, the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality said: “We are implementing applications such as rail systems, bicycle paths, electric vehicle charging stations, and smart traffic lights. With the European Union Matchup project, we added 25 electric motorcycles, 30 e-scooters and 2 electric buses to our municipality's fleet. Our service building and Transportation Inc. We became the first and only public building in Turkey that generates its own energy with the SPP with storage on its roof. While doing these, we stated that we are a climate-friendly organization on the relevant platforms, but we did not want it to remain in discourse. As a result of the meticulous examinations and on-site inspections of the relevant expert teams from TSE, the standards for greenhouse gas measurements, reporting and verification of our service building were fulfilled. Our service building has been turned into a zero-emission building and has been awarded the "Climate Friendly Organization" certificate by TSE. We are the first municipality and the first public institution in Turkey to receive this certificate from TSE as a result of the energy management practices and greenhouse gas reduction studies we carried out in our municipality building.”

TSE Mediterranean Regional Coordinator Hasan Demirtaş pointed out that this is the first time a municipality has received this certificate in Turkey.
