Turkish Companies to Build the New Tram Line in Sarajevo

Two Turkish companies will construct the 22,9-kilometer-long line, which is planned to be built in addition to the existing 12,9-kilometer Bascarsija-Ilidza tram line in Sarajevo.

In the statement made by the Ministry of Transport of Sarajevo Canton, it was reported that the tender for the construction of the Bascarsija-Ilidza tram line has been completed, and the tram line will be built by Yapı Merkezi Construction Industry and Yapıray Railway Construction Systems companies.

In the statement, it was stated that the Minister of Transport of Sarajevo Canton Adnan Seta met with the company officials, and Seta said, “The tram line up to Hrasnica is no longer a legend. This is a big project for Sarajevo.”

The tram line that will connect Sarajevo from end to end will be built to continue from the existing Ilidza stop. The length of the new line will be 12,9 kilometers. There will be 20 stops and 2 turning points on the line.
