The Trees Remaining on the Road Route to be Widened in Bursa Are Being Moved

The Metropolitan Municipality, which has brought large-scale parks and green areas to the city in order to highlight the green identity of Bursa, is transporting the 450 linden trees remaining on the road route to be expanded to the afforestation area in Hamitler by 'special vehicles'.

The Metropolitan Municipality, which has taken decisive steps to carry Bursa into the future as a healthier and livable city, shows great sensitivity to protect the existing green texture while bringing new green areas to the city. In this context, the Metropolitan Municipality, which continues its work with a special team to protect and keep the century-old plane trees alive, on the other hand, removes the remaining trees in the project areas instead of cutting them and transplanting them to new afforestation areas.

The lindens are moving

Within the scope of the Çalı Road expansion work to be carried out by the Regional Directorate of Highways; Nearly 450 trees, mostly linden trees, that will remain on the road route, are taken from their location with special dismantling vehicles and transported to the afforestation area in Hamitler. Within the scope of the work, more than 200 trees on Çalı Yolu and Ahıska Caddesi have been transplanted so far, while the remaining vehicles are 'dismantled with great care' and planted in their new places.

“We cannot lose a single tree”

Metropolitan Mayor Alinur Aktaş stated that they are taking firm steps towards the new green area target of 3 million square meters until the end of the term, and said that Bursa does not have the luxury of losing even a single tree. Noting that they carried the trees remaining on the tram line of Emek City Hospital and carried out a similar application on Çalı Yolu, President Aktaş said, “Our agricultural engineers within the Park and Gardens Branch Directorate examined the trees one by one. We transport all of the trees that are suitable for transportation to the afforestation area in Hamitler. We are working hard for a greener Bursa.”
