President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended TEKNOFEST BLACK SEA 2022 held at Samsun Çarşamba Airport. In his speech, President Erdoğan expressed his gratitude to all the participants and visitors of TEKNOFEST, which has become the shining star of the country's national technology move.

Congratulating the T3 Foundation, which brought such a proud brand to the country, and all the institutions that walk the path with it, Erdogan said that this fire, whose first spark was lit by a handful of young people in Istanbul, now besieged all of Anatolia and even the entire region.

Explaining that the scope of the world's largest aviation, space and technology festival, which was held for the fifth time this year, has now gone beyond the borders, Erdoğan said that he proudly followed TEKNOFEST, which was held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, last May.

Erdoğan continued his words as follows: “TEKNOFEST is a different youth. TEKNOFEST, with all its strength, is a different horizon for the future of our country. In 2018, when TEKNOFEST was held for the first time, the number of daily participants was 550 thousand, which is an exceptionally good number for such an event. Today, we are experiencing a TEKNOFEST with only 600 thousand applications from competitors. TEKNOFEST BLACK SEA turned into a feast where 81 thousand young people from 107 thousand teams from 154 provinces of our country and 600 different countries competed in 40 different branches. This degree of adoption of a technology event, especially by our youth, is truly a mental transformation. While some try to kindle a fire of despair by dividing our youth into generations with letters, the real truth lies before us.”

President Erdoğan stated that both the reality and the need of Turkey is the TEKNOFEST generation. “Whoever looks at this youth and sees other things, not the bright future of his country and nation, should go back and question his own mind and heart.” Erdogan said: “A century ago, this youth brought seven heifers to their knees in Çanakkale. This youth had won the National Struggle a century ago and cast the enemy into the sea. Throughout the history of the Republic, this youth has always been on the side of democracy, development, independence and future, and glorified his country. This youth has been with us in every struggle we have fought for 20 years, and has been our greatest source of strength and morale. Even the epic that this youth wrote only on the night of July 15 is a legend in itself, a success story. Now I see this youth here at TEKNOFEST BLACK SEA.”

President Erdoğan stated that when Turkey set out to develop its own technologies and to design and manufacture its own defense industry products, they trusted the youth. Expressing that some people, as they always do, are pursuing mischief by belittling the youth, darkening their hearts and confusing their minds, Erdoğan said: “Time has shown that we are right. We did not and will not allow our youth today to persecute Nuri Demirağ, Nuri Killigil, Vecihi Hürkuş and Şakir Zümre. We trusted our people, we relied on our people. Akif said, 'Believe in God, hold on to peace, be wise to wisdom. If there is a way, this is it, I don't know, another way out.' says. We paved the way for our people, we gave them opportunities, and thank God, we finally came to a place that the whole world watched with admiration. Our ancestors said, 'Keser returns, the stalk returns, the day will come when the account returns.' He has a word. We are now able to export to countries that did not give us defense industry technology products with their money yesterday. “Our Kızılelma unmanned warplane, which was presented to you for the first time in Samsun, is seen as a game-changing move in the history of world warfare.” Using his expressions, Erdoğan explained that the pioneer of technological breakthroughs all over the world is the defense industry, and the products developed for this purpose have been extended to other areas of life in a short time.

Pointing out that unmanned aerial vehicles have started to be used in many different channels, from logistics to agriculture, besides the defense industry, President Erdoğan said: “The light of will, determination and acumen to raise our country above the power of technology shines in the eyes of each of our young people with whom we are together with enthusiasm in the field of TEKNOFEST. Here, I hear the heartbeat of young people who aspire to be today's Cezeri, Harezmi, İbni Sina, Mimar Sinan, Ali Kuşçu, Hezarfen Ahmet Çelebi, Katip Çelebi.”

“WE HAVE 80 PERCENT DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL DEFENSE INDUSTRY”

Underlining that they have brought centuries-old works and services to Turkey in the last 20 years, President Erdoğan continued his words as follows: “When we took office, 20 percent local-national, that was it. But now we have 80 percent domestic and national defense industry. We have realized our 2023 targets. Young people, I hope you will carry Turkey much further with the vision of 2053, 2071. I thank my Lord for giving me the opportunity to walk the path with such a youth and to make a heart and a consensus with such a youth. Dear young people, I see each of you as our technology ambassadors. Of course, there are young people in our country whom we have not been able to reach yet, with their brains working like poison and their restless energies. Hopefully, we will include them in this feast, thanks to TEKNOFEST, which is expanding its ground, increasing its scope and increasing its effectiveness every year. Technology festivals with 600 million, 1 million and 2 million competitors are not the ones that suit Turkey, but 3 thousand.”

Emphasizing that young people have such a potential and he believes they can do it, President Erdoğan made the following assessment: “Besides, we should enrich our festival with participation from all over the world, together with our own children. We must become a center of attraction that gathers the accumulation of the Turkish world in our country. We need to build a technology climate where young people from other countries flock to our country, not that young people who say 'I have an idea' think about going abroad to realize this.”
