Defense Industry President İsmail Demir, who was the guest of CNN Türk's Weekend Program; He conveyed the latest developments about the Micro Satellite Launch Vehicle (MUFA) developed by ROKETSAN. President Demir; In his statements, he stated that various rocket engine technologies were tested and that engine technologies should be given a space history. He also stated that with the first version of MUFA, they have plans to put a satellite into orbit within 2025.
MUFA, which will place microsatellites in low earth orbit, consists of three versions. The first version, the Sonde Rocket, is aimed at increasing 100 kilograms of payload to an altitude of 300 kilometers. Second edition MUFA; It will be able to place 400 kilogram micro satellites in low earth orbit with an altitude of 100 kilometers. The third version is planned to place 550 kilogram micro-satellites in low earth orbit with an altitude of 200 kilometers.
MUFS Future Goals
The Probe Rocket, which is planned to be launched in 2023, is planned to be a platform where Micro Satellite Launch Vehicle (MUFA) technologies will be tested, capable of lifting 300 kilograms of payload above an altitude of 100 kilometers. On the other hand, work has been accelerated for a MUFA configuration with a higher capacity (payload and/or orbital altitude) in which the first stage of the MUFA is supported by side engines.
When the MUFS project carried out at Roketsan's Satellite Launch Space Systems and Advanced Technologies Research Center is completed, micro-satellites of 100 kilograms or less will be able to be placed in Low Earth Orbit with a height of at least 400 kilometers. For this, the date 2026 is foreseen. With the micro-satellite that is aimed to be launched, Turkey will have the capability of launching, testing, manufacturing infrastructure and establishing a base, which only a few countries in the world have.
According to the information received from a ROKETSAN official; It was stated that among the technologies planned to be developed in the side-engined MUFA, technology development studies will be carried out for the recovery of liquid fueled side engines in a similar way to SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket.
