Long Distance Train Services Canceled in the USA Against the Possibility of Railroad Strike

In the US, where rail workers are preparing to go on strike on Friday, September 16, the country's largest rail operator Amtrak has canceled most of its long-distance services from tomorrow.

The White House is trying to prevent the strike of railroad workers in the country. Steny Hoyer, a Democratic Party Congressman in the USA, said that Congress would take action to prevent the strike.

“Congress can delay the strike or force workers to come to an agreement. If they can't reach an agreement, Congress has a role. We can enact laws if necessary," he said.

Unions and railway companies have so far reached tentative agreements covering 12 workers, represented by 5 of the 21 unions participating in the negotiations. However, the agreements of 90 unions representing approximately 7 thousand workers could not be reached.
