Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay said that the Gastrofest, which they held for the second time this year to promote Konya's 10 thousand-year-old food culture, attracted great attention. President Altay said, “As Konya is the capital of agriculture, I hope it will also be the capital of gastronomy from now on. As a capital city, we strive to fulfill our responsibility in this regard in the best way possible. I invite everyone to Konya for Gastrofest.” used his statements.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that Konya is a producing city that has hosted and produced many civilizations for 10 thousand years since Çatalhöyük, and that they want to convey this aspect to the guests. President Altay said, “As you all know, something is actually eaten wherever it is produced. Therefore, Konya has made a great effort to present these products to the table in the best way, and as of now, we are trying to present the culture that it has created for 10 thousand years to our visitors who come to the gastronomy festival. We held the first one last year. This year we are holding the second one. There is a very large participation. There is a very intense participation, especially from outside the city. On this occasion, especially from our regional geography; I would especially like to express that we expect guests from Ankara, Eskişehir, Aksaray, Karaman and Niğde.” said.

“THIS FESTIVAL IS ORGANIZED IN tribute to His Excellency ATEŞBAZ-I PARENT”

Emphasizing that the main theme of the festival was Ateşbaz-ı Veli, Mayor Altay said, “When Konya is mentioned, the first thing that comes to mind is Mevlana. Hazrat Mevlana's cook is also His Holiness Ateşbaz-ı Veli… Actually, we are organizing our Gastronomy Festival in honor of His Excellency Ateşbaz-ı Veli. We started by adding the salt brought from Ateşbaz-ı Veli Tomb to Toyga Soup with the participation of Ms. Emine Erdoğan, who has always supported us in this regard, and our Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. On behalf of my fellow citizens, I would like to thank Mrs. Emine Erdoğan and the Honorable Minister for their participation. In fact, there is a philosophy and prayer behind it. Hazrat Mevlana prayed to His Excellency Atesbaz-i Veli, 'May the one who visits you find peace, those who use your salt find abundance, find healing, do not overflow, increase or decrease'. Therefore, those who come to Konya buy salt from the Atesbaz-ı Veli Tomb and mix it with the salt in their homes. We started with that salt so that our Gastronomy Festival would be fruitful.” He used his expressions.

“KONYA GASTRONOMY IS NOT LIMITED TO ETLI BREAD”

Expressing that Konya has an ancient food culture, but is mostly known for etliekmek, Mayor Altay said, “When Konya is mentioned, the most important dish is etliekmek. What we all love the most… But it would be a great injustice to limit Konya to only etliekmek. The number of applications for geographically marked products in Konya is 100. So far, we have received the marks of 60 geographical products. Therefore, when you come to the Gastronomy festival, apart from etlibread; As you can see our water pastry, oven kebab, oil loaf, dishes made from moldy cheese, pastries, especially between the sheet metal; We have prepared a festival where you can see our desserts and drinks such as Höşmerim halva.” he said.

GASTROFEST WILL FILL THE HEARTS, NOT JUST THE BODY

Pointing out that various social activities were also prepared at the GastroFest, which was held for the second time this year, President Altay said in his statement, “It is not enough to just feed the bodies. For this, we also do some things that will satisfy the hearts. We have created important activity areas especially for children. An entertaining section awaits our visitors and children. We organize activities where children will be involved in the kitchen. In addition, Turkey's important chefs are performing shows about the important dishes of both our Konya and Turkey. Until Sunday evening, Konya has everything in the name of gastronomy.” placed his sentences.

“KONYA IS A CITY TO VISIT 365 DAYS”

President Altay pointed out that developing and growing Konya has gained an important place in the field of gastronomy and used the following words: “As Konya is the capital of agriculture, I hope it will become a capital of gastronomy from now on. As a capital city, we strive to explain our responsibility in this regard in the best possible way. I invite everyone to Konya. Don't be sad that we couldn't come to Gastrofest. Konya is a city that can be visited 365 days a year. When you arrive, we have made all the preparations to present these delicacies to you. With the tolerance of Hazrat Mevlana, we opened our hearts, our hearts to the whole of Turkey, to the whole world. We welcome everyone to Konya.”

Konya GastroFest can be visited at Kalehan Ancestral Garden until Sunday, September 4th.
