The fire, which started yesterday morning in Mersin's Gülnar district and spread to a neighborhood in Silifke district with the effect of the wind, is being tried to be controlled by air and land intervention. Due to the fire that was effective in two districts, 303 houses were evacuated as a precaution, and 790 people were evacuated. Forestry General Manager Bekir Karacabey said that the region is rough and that there are difficulties in fighting the fire due to the frequent change of direction of the wind, and that the fire extinguishing work has been continuing for 24 hours without interruption. The fire was brought under control at noon.

While efforts to control forest fires in Mersin's Gülnar and Manisa's Soma districts continue, 5 General Directorate of Forestry personnel injured in the fire in Gülnar were treated in health institutions.

The first response was made to the forest fire, which started at 07.13 in the Büyükeceli locality of the Gülnar district of Mersin, at 07.20. A fuel station, resting facility and some houses were evacuated as a precaution due to the fire that spread to different locations.

Fire control efforts;

It continues with 11 Aircraft, 29 Helicopters (9 Ministry of National Defense, 5 Ministry of Internal Affairs Reserve Force), 138 Dockers, 15 Dozers, 850 Personnel.

The treatment of 5 General Directorate of Forestry personnel injured in the fire in health institutions continues.

On September 7, 2022, 13 forest fires and 9 rural fires broke out across the country.

While 20 of these fires are kept under control and cooling works are carried out, efforts to control forest fires in Gülnar and Soma continue.
