"We set out with the desire to build a school worthy of Elazig," said İmamoğlu, adding, "A school that makes our children and young people feel that they have equal rights wherever they live in our country, and that our state will give every child and young person the highest level of education. The foundation of the Gazi Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, which was heavily damaged after the earthquake that occurred in Elazig on January 24, 2020, to be renovated by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM); CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaoğlu, CHP Parliamentary Group Deputy Chairmen, CHP Deputy Chairman and IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu thrown by. In the groundbreaking ceremony; CHP Elazig deputy Gürsel Erol, İmamoğlu and Kılıçdaroğlu made speeches.

KILIÇDAROĞLU: “WE ARE DOING SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL FOR TURKEY'S FUTURE”

Kılıçdaroğlu started his speech with the words “We are doing a good thing for the future of Turkey” and said, “We are doing a good thing for the young people to grow up better and to study in better conditions. And we build this beauty on a pain, on forgetting the pain. There was an earthquake, yes. People lost their lives, yes. Buildings destroyed, yes. Schools were destroyed, yes. But Turkey is a strong country. And Turkey is a country that heals its wounds. I came right after the earthquake. We've been here. I embraced my fellow citizens from Elazig. I have listened to your pain. Our Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem Bey also came. Likewise, he listened to the citizens. And we opened aid campaigns to see how we can relieve their pain. The aid campaigns were launched by all parties, not just the Republican People's Party. Because the earthquake brought us together. We had to fight together to relieve our pain," he said.

“I READ HIGH SCHOOL IN ELAZIG WITHOUT BUILDING”

Reminding that he went to high school in Elazığ, Kılıçdaroğlu said, “Mr. İmamoğlu, when I was finishing Commerce High School here, our school did not have a building. In a part of the high school, I graduated from the Commercial High School in the upper part of the city, then Devrim Secondary School, and went to university from there. Commerce High School, which later became. Now, right after the earthquake, we are building such a beautiful and bright building here.” Stating that he was informed about the school request through Gürsel Erol, Kılıçdaroğlu said, “A long time ago, Mr. Ekrem explained about the architecture and equipment of the building. Hopefully, we will come at the opening and we will open it as well. Then we will see the beauty of the building and what it gives to the students, together in a way.”

“WHEN WE ARE IN POWER, WE WILL SAY 'NO POWER AND OPPOSITION'; WE WILL EMBRACE EVERYONE"

“The President mentioned something; Kılıçdaroğlu said, 'I wish the people who rule Elazig were here, they are serving Elazig,' he said. God grants us, when we come to power, we will say 'neither the government nor the opposition'. We will embrace everyone. These people are tired of fighting. Why don't we hug, for God's sake? We live in the same land. Homeland, our homeland. The flag is our flag. Our political views may differ, but this is not the reason for the fight. This is a service tool. For service, we express our thoughts. Justice; I know him very well. Not only the 85 million in Turkey but also everyone in the world knows what I think about justice. I also know that the religion of the state is justice, that an unjust world cannot be built and that without justice these children will not be able to find a decent job. That's why young people want justice. Why? If Turkey 7 is eliminated in the oral exam in mathematics, we have a problem. The judge, the second in the prosecution exam, says if he is eliminated, we have a problem. We will finish these. We ask our young people: Read. Ask question. Grow your sense of curiosity. Because the basis of education is to raise people who will ask qualified questions, to raise students and to increase their sense of curiosity. If you increase their curiosity, they will think, 'How does this happen?' and they will at least try to unravel the mystery of the event they are considering. This is the measure of the success of education.”

FROM KILIÇDAROĞLU TO YOUTH: “DO NOT DEPOSE”

Kılıçdaroğlu said, “It is one of our main duties to bring justice to this country, to bring democracy to this country, to provide people with an income level that everyone can eat in this country.” Do not worry, you will study well in this school, you will have memories in this school. You will hug your teachers. We will be proud of you too. We will be proud of you. Your families will be honored and proud of you too. We come and go, but you are the ones who will rule Turkey. The better education you get, the stronger the future of Turkey will be. Thank you all. Young people, do not despair, do not. There is only one thing I ask: Do not despair, grow your hope, embrace and focus on Turkey's problems. You are the one who will bring democracy. Thank you all. First of all, my heartfelt thanks to Mr. President. Of course he thanked all the members of the City Council; I also give the same thanks”.

İMAMOĞLU: “There is NO PAIN WE CANNOT OVERCOME”

Noting that he visited Elazig after the earthquake, İmamoğlu said, “It is difficult to express what a great beauty, peace and spiritual satisfaction it is to live in brotherhood in this geography. First of all, we are a great nation. If we know the value of this land, there is no pain that we cannot overcome. We can treat and overcome any pain together," he said. Reminding that, as IMM, they aspire to rebuild Gazi Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, which was heavily damaged in the earthquake, with the information of Elazig deputy Gürsel Erol and the instruction of CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, İmamoğlu said, “Of course, there are bureaucratic processes. First of all, the National Education had to give us permission. We did the correspondence. After that permission came, we took our decision unanimously from our Parliament. First of all, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the members of the IMM Assembly and all the party groups in the IMM Assembly, who gave us that permission, in order to do this process with maturity and a pleasant service, a valuable service on behalf of 16 million Istanbulites, from Istanbul to Elazig.” .

“So that OUR CHILDREN AND YOUTH CAN RECEIVE EQUAL SERVICE…”

Saying, “We are very excited that, besides Istanbul, 3 schools will be built here, together with Ankara and Izmir, and that we all took action to solve the problem with school and education after the earthquake," İmamoğlu said, "Yesterday was Veterans Day. We embraced our veterans on the anniversary of the day our father was given the title of 'marshal'. We met with the families of our veterans. It is a great honor to lay the foundation of an industrial vocational high school named after Gazi, the great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, in Elazig today. In that respect, we set out with the desire to build a quality project, worthy of its name, worthy of Elazig, and of course, a school worthy of the city where our President attended high school.” Sharing detailed information about the technical structure of the school, İmamoğlu said:

“From the design to the completion of our school, which we have designed and put into operation today, from all kinds of materials in it to many services; From the library to the gymnasiums... We have undertaken the responsibility of building a school that will make our children and young people feel that they have equal rights wherever they live in our country, and where our state will give every child and youth the highest level of education. And that's how we designed it. I can say that we have installed whatever standard is required in the project. In this respect, we have made every effort to make this school perfect in every aspect, which our children and teachers, young people, and even school staff can enjoy and be proud of. We made an effort to make it a school that befits Elazig and Elazig residents.”

"I WILL BE A FOLLOWER TO FINISH QUICKLY"

Noting that he is pleased that a company operating in the region won the open tender they organized, İmamoğlu said, "We will not only make the necessary sacrifices as an institution, but also make the promise to the people of Elazığ that I will follow this school day by day in order to finish the work schedule as quickly as possible and meet these young people with their schools as soon as possible. I want to give. Our young people will come out of this school who will make both their families and us and Turkey proud. The future of every young person in our country is actually very bright. Because we have a very smart young audience. As long as the authorities and position holders of this country raise the hopes of the youth. Don't let them do it. And as long as these authority and position holders; They should not polarize this nation, this society, these young people. They should not expose these young people or this society to a deceptive language with their own political methods, ways and fortunes. Believe me, that's enough for society. Nothing else is needed,” he said.

“I MAKE SOME REQUESTS OF PRESIDENTS WHO DON'T MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, EVEN HIDDEN”

“My Chairman, from the very beginning, you said, 'You are from Istanbul, you will worry about the problems all over Turkey'; Imamoglu said, "And no matter which city we go to, we try to do our services without being part of a political debate. In fact, I made the following invitation from everywhere: Istanbul's door is open to mayors from any political party. Unfortunately, the mayors who gave us appointments at first and gave appointments to our representatives, later stopped giving them. Believe me, I have some of your requests made, albeit secretly. Because I don't want any harm to come to them. What do they need? For example, I would like this here, my President? Why shouldn't I? If I don't say what's in my heart, it's worse. Okay, our precious people are here. But what is wrong with us opening this school with the administrators of this city, the administrators of this city regarding education, the students of this school, arm in arm here? What's wrong with you?" used his statements.

“TODAY YOU ARE THE MAIN OPPOSITION LEADER, TOMORROW YOU ARE THE HEAD OF THIS COUNTRY”

Addressing Kılıçdaroğlu with the words, "Today you are the main opposition leader, tomorrow you are the head of this country," İmamoğlu said, "The person who is at the head of this country today will be the opposition of this country tomorrow. When I was the district mayor in Istanbul, I always yearned for the following: I did not say, 'Let me be the mayor of the metropolitan municipality, look how I cannot come to you' because I have not seen a metropolitan mayor in my office for 5 years. 'Look how many times I'll come to you. I will come so many times; I said, 'I'm going to embarrass you. Besides, isn't every political party of this country, from the government to the opposition, working for our country? It works for our country. Is that school we built, the school of the Republican People's Party? Not. Our nation's school, our state's school. We are happy that we are providing such a service to Elazig. You have caused this. Thank you Mr President. I wish this school to be a hope for our youth and a light for our future. Hopefully, the contractor will continue his work quickly, and we will continue on our way meticulously. President, we will come and open this school once again. When we come to power, when we come with you, I am sure you will invite all the opposition here”.

EROL: “IF WE ARE DOING THESE THINGS WHEN WE ARE IN THE OPPOSITION, THINK ABOUT WHAT WE WILL DO IN THE GOVERNMENT”

Stating that the administration of all 20 municipalities in Elazig is in the People's Alliance, Gürsel Erol said, “Until the last election, we did not even have a single municipal council member in 20 of the 20 municipalities. For the first time, in this election from the Nation Alliance, we elected only 4 city council members in the city center. So our domain is in this Elazig. But imagine that in the province where the AK Party is the strongest in Turkey, while remaining helpless and helpless in the face of the problems experienced, while not building schools that will contribute to education life; Although we were in opposition, our mayors came to Elazig and gave their hands. What does this mean? This means: If we are doing these things while in opposition, think about what we will do in power,” he said.

“ANKARA AND IZMIR WILL BUILD ONE SCHOOL IN ELAZIĞ”

Stating that the construction story of the school started after the Elazig earthquake, Erol shared the following information: After the earthquake, 30 of our deputies came to Elazig at your instruction to conduct on-site investigations. As a result of the investigations we made here and during the process, the AK Party deputies said, 'CHP deputies came for a tour, but we want them to come and make a promise to the public in Elazig to say, 'We are also building a school'. I called you right after. 'Dear President, there is such an expectation in Elazig. If you have permission and instructions; I called our Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir Metropolitan Mayors and said, 'Can I convey this request with the instruction we received from you? You gave this order to us. We called our Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, we called our Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, we called our Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor. All of them, 'The instruction of our Honorable President. It is an honor for us to serve Elazig, and they decided to build 1 schools, not just one.”
