Oil Seeds Export Approaches 1 Billion Dollars Dam in Aegean

Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds Exporters' Association, which has been successful in exports, increased its exports to 2022 million dollars with an increase of 64 percent in the January-August period of 687.

In the last one-year period from September 25, 2021 to September 24, 2022, exports of cereals, pulses, oilseeds increased by 70% in the Aegean and reached 981 million dollars.

Emphasizing that the cereals, pulses, oilseeds sector has been consistently successful since the first month of 2022, Ege Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters' Association President Muhammet Öztürk continued his words as follows:

“While we experienced more than 60 percent increase in exports in January and February, we witnessed records of up to 200 percent in the last period. In the first 2022 months of 8, we increased our exports of cereals, pulses, oilseeds to 64 million dollars with an increase of 687 percent. We gave the signals that we would exceed 1 billion dollars in the first quarter. In the last one-year period from September 25, 2021 to September 24, 2022, our exports increased by 70 percent and reached 981 million dollars. We continue to break records in September as well, and we succeeded in increasing our exports by 20 percent in the 115-day period. Our cereals, pulses, oilseeds sector has increased its exports to 10,8 billion dollars in the last one-year period throughout Turkey. In the last one-year period, the share of our sector in the export of 25,1 billion dollars of agricultural products increased to 43 percent. With the Grain Corridor agreement, Turkey's facilitating role was highly appreciated all over the world. We hope to see the positive impact of this on our Turkish cereals, pulses and oilseeds sector in the coming period.”

Vegetable oil exports increased by 69 percent, oil seeds were the record holders with 248 percent.

Explaining that they exported to 2022 countries and regions in the January-August period of 146, Öztürk announced that vegetable oil exports, which constitute 57 percent of the Aegean's grain, pulse and oilseed exports, reached 69 million dollars with an increase of 397 percent.

“We exported 8 million dollars with an increase of 248 percent in oil seeds, where we experienced the highest increase in the 87-month period. We brought 74 million dollars to our country with an acceleration of 77 percent in pulp and animal feeds. We reached 35 million dollars with an increase of 27 percent in food preparations, 25 million dollars in chocolate confectionery products, and 43 million dollars in products made from cereals with an increase of 23 percent. We have an export of 16 million dollars in milling products and 14 million dollars in spice exports. Our grain exports reached 8 million dollars with an increase of 34 percent in the 8-month period, and our exports of confectionery products increased by 13 percent to 5 million dollars.”

Muhammet Öztürk, “Our market weight is in North Africa and Asia-Oceania countries. The top 5 countries where we realize half of our exports are; 145 million dollars to Algeria with an increase of 91 percent, 68 million dollars to Libya with an increase of 79 percent, 79 million dollars to India, the largest export market of Turkish white poppy, after the opening of the quota, 165 million dollars to Tunisia with an increase of 61 percent, and 333 percent to Egypt. We exported 39 million dollars with an increase. Our exports to Djibouti increased by 109 percent to 23 million dollars, to Germany increased by 25 percent to 20 million dollars, to Russia with an increase of 844 percent reached 17 million dollars, to Israel 13 million dollars with an increase of 17 percent, to the USA 45 percent. We exported 16 million dollars with an increase.” said.

The target Far East market in cereals, pulses, oilseeds

Öztürk said, “We have the power, knowledge and experience to bring Turkey's agricultural products to the added value they deserve by processing, packaging and branding them in the new era in which the world will be shaped by food technologies. Our efforts to improve the image of Turkish goods continue with our Turquality projects. We introduced Turkish flavors to the USA within the scope of the TURQUALITY Project, which was implemented by the Food Associations of the Aegean Exporters' Associations to increase the export of Turkish food products in the USA market. We enabled Turkish cuisine to be included in the curriculum of Las Vegas University for 5 years. We aim to increase the exports of Turkish food products to the USA, one of the important target markets of our sector, exponentially. In addition, we aim to be more recognized in the Far East market with our trainings that will raise the awareness of our members on e-commerce in the near future and our digital marketing strategies that we have developed specifically for China.” he said.

250 European spice producers will meet in Bodrum

Noting that as two exporters' associations under the roof of the EIB, they will host the European Spice Union General Assembly in Bodrum on October 5-8, 2022, Muhammet Öztürk said, “We will be hosting the General Assembly of the European Spice Union after 12 years. We will host 250 business people who shape the spice industry in Europe in Turkey. We believe that the business relations to be established in this organization will contribute to the increase in our export figures.” said.
