Aid materials continue to be delivered to Pakistan, which suffered great losses due to the flood disaster, with the 'Goodness Trains'. A farewell ceremony was held at Van Train Station for the Seventh Goodness Train, which carries aid materials to heal the wounds of the Pakistani people.
21 thousand 811 food parcels, weighing 330 tons and 53 kilograms, prepared in 950 provinces by the Provincial Directorate of Disaster and Emergency in cooperation with the General Directorate of TCDD Transportation under the coordination of the Van Governorship, were sent off to Pakistan with a ceremony from the Van Train Station with TCDD Transportation wagons.
To the ceremony; Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Vahit Kirişci, Minister Kirişçi's wife Hanife Kirişci, AK Party Van deputies İrfan Kartal, Osman Nuri Gülacar, Abdulahat Arvas, Gürpınar Mayor Hayrullah Tanış, Çaldıran Mayor Şefik Ensari, AFAD Provincial Director Ali İhsan Körpeş and TCDD Transportation officials attended.
To date, 4 thousand 1 tons of humanitarian aid materials have been sent to Pakistan by 6 goodness trains, 2 of which are from Ankara and 988 from Mersin and Izmit.
In our 39 wagons, in the aid we have collected from 21 provinces, our citizens' prayers and the support of our beloved nation are really there.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Vahit Kirişci expressed his pleasure to be in Van for the farewell ceremony of the train carrying aid supplies.
Stating that their greatest duty as a nation is to be with their Pakistani brothers in difficult times, to share and share the bread they have, Kirişçi said, “The name of the country we share here is our friend and brother Pakistan. Once again, we share the pain of our brothers due to this flood disaster. Sharing this pain is not enough. In our 39 wagons, we have the aid we have collected from 21 provinces, the prayers of our citizens and the support of our beloved nation. It may not relieve all the pain, but at least we have to show once again that we stand by our Pakistani brothers. Because these brothers were the first brothers we saw with us whenever we were in trouble.” he said.
