Ankara Metropolitan Municipality is rapidly continuing its works in the Mamak Urban Transformation and Development Project Area in order to reunite the beneficiaries who have been separated from their homes for 15 years and to eliminate the rent burden created in this process.

Within the scope of the protocol signed with ABB's subsidiary PORTAŞ, the construction of 5 residences and commercial areas in the 7th and 782th stages started in the first stage. In addition, within the scope of the works, 12 of the slums in the region are demolished, while the excavations that threaten the safety and environmental health of the demolished slums are also cleaned.

While Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues to solve the problems that turned into gangrene in the capital one by one, it also continues the construction of the houses that the people of Mamak have been waiting for years.

Pressing the button to build modern residences within the scope of the Mamak Urban Transformation and Development Project, ABB started to work on the completion of 782 residences and commercial areas in the first place as a result of its cooperation with its subsidiary PORTAŞ. PORTAŞ teams are working hard in the region to complete the houses as soon as possible. While the citizens whose houses have been completed return to their neighborhoods where they have been separated for 15 years, the Metropolitan Municipality will reduce the rent burden.

WORK ACCELERATED IN THE FIFTH AND SEVENTH STAGES

Following the protocol signed with PORTAŞ, the work accelerated in the fifth and seventh stages of the Mamak Urban Transformation and Development Project, where many families are looking forward to their homes. In the construction, which consists of 150 residential blocks and 12 commercial block with a construction area of ​​1 thousand square meters, tunnel formwork and construction works are carried out by using the own resources of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality.

It is aimed to start the work as soon as possible for the remaining stages of the houses, which are planned to keep the neighborhood culture alive and have social facilities.

Namık Doğan Albayrak, PORTAŞ Construction Construction Control and Acceptance Branch Manager, who gave information about the ongoing works within the scope of Mamak Urban Transformation and Development Project, said, “Ankara Metropolitan Municipality signed a protocol with its subsidiary company PORTAŞ in order to keep its promises to the people of Mamak and started the construction of 782 residences and commercial areas.” said. Noting that ABB and PORTAŞ continue to work on projects with their own resources, Albayrak continued as follows:

“Within the scope of the 5th and 7th stages, it has started its construction site consisting of 3 residential blocks and a commercial block, with a construction area of ​​150 thousand square meters in 12 parcels. The construction of the remaining houses will begin as soon as possible. The people of Mamak, who are suffering, will be provided with their new homes as soon as possible.”

THE REGION IS ALSO CLEARED OF Slums

In the project area, which consists of 14 neighborhoods and 11 stages, the demolition of 15 thousand slums, which are planned to be demolished, continues. While 12 of the slums are demolished, the excavations that threaten safety and environmental health are being cleaned. Demolition of the remaining 500 slums is planned to begin as soon as possible.

ABB Urban Aesthetics Department Head Ahmet Turan Söylemez stated that they started work on the Bosphorus phase of the project as of April and said:

“This region is a part of the project where approximately 15 thousand slums were converted. Our teams remove approximately 500 tons of excavation waste daily. By cleaning the remnants of the demolished slums, we aim to both remove the appearance of a collapsed area and to destroy the bad image that occurs in the direction of Doğukent Boulevard below. From here on, we plan to expand our work towards the other phases of this urban transformation project.”
