Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues its support to sports and athletes. It provided logistical support to the 'Granfondo Cycling Race', which was held for the first time in Turkey in 2015 and brought together bicycle enthusiasts in many cities such as Istanbul, Izmir, Bursa and Antalya, and was held for the first time in Ankara.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues to support various sports activities in order to increase the interest of the citizens of the Capital in sports and to make Ankara the capital of sports.

The Youth and Sports Services Department provided logistical support to the 'Capital Granfondo' bicycle race, which was held for the first time in the Capital and attended by 200 athletes.

CYCLING ATHLETES PEDAL

In the race that started at Anıttepe Sports Facilities, 200 cyclists; He pedaled 93 kilometers on the long track and 43 kilometers on the short track. In the short course, disabled cyclists also had the opportunity to compete in the Tandem category.

Gökhan Uzuntaş in men and Sevcan Alper in women came first in the long course. Emre Kaplan in men and Züleyha Dikbaş in women finished the short course in first place.

Stating that as ABB, their services to Turkish sports and athletes will continue, Head of Youth and Sports Services Department Mustafa Artunç said:

“Granfondo Cycling Races are held in Ankara for the first time. As Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, we also contribute to these races. As our President Mansur Yavaş said, we will continue our services to Turkish sports and athletes.”

ANKARA'S NATURE WAS AMAZED

Thousands of competitors who came to Ankara for the Granfondo Cycling Race stated that they were amazed by the nature of the city, and used the following statements about the races:

Nusret Emre Yilmaz: “It is very nice to organize such an organization in the capital. I would like to thank everyone who contributed."

Kayra Alp Tekin: “As someone who loves cycling, I am very happy to be a part of such an organization.”

Cüneyt Yavuz: “After Beykoz, I participate in the race in Ankara. As a cyclist, I would like to thank everyone who organized this event.”

Blessed Jesus: “I came to Ankara from Yalova to participate in the bicycle race. The organization is really nice, everything has been thought of.”

Züleyha Dikbaş: “I came from Izmir to participate in the Granfondo Cycling Race. The weather is beautiful for cycling. I want the races to be held all over the country. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the organization.”

Sevcan Alper: “I am coming from Izmir to participate in the bicycle race. I pedaled 93 km in the hot air and clean nature of the capital. I am very happy that I won first place in the competition.”
