Atomstroyexport A.Ş (ASE), a subsidiary of Rosatom, the Russian State Nuclear Energy Corporation, and Korea Hydro and Nuclear Energy Ltd. Şti (KHNP) has reached an agreement for the construction of turbine islands within the scope of the El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant (NGS) project in Egypt. Under the agreement, the Korean company will build up to 4 buildings and structures in 80 units of NGS. In addition, it will ensure the supply and supply of equipment and materials for the turbine islands.

Jooho Whang, CEO of KHNP, said: “The agreement signed with Atomstroyexport A. Based on our experience in the UAE, KHNP will do its best for the successful implementation of the Al-Dabaa NPP project.”

In his speech at the signing ceremony, Rosatom International Trade Director Boris Arseev said, “Nuclear energy not only plays an important role in meeting the increasing electricity demand and ensuring carbon neutrality, it also brings countries together. At Rosatom, we firmly believe that nuclear cooperation should not stop during this turbulent period. On the contrary, it is of great importance to develop and expand nuclear cooperation in a way that will benefit our countries.

In his speech, Alexander Korchagin, Senior Vice President of NGS construction project management of Atomstroyexport A.Ş, said: “The construction phase of the project started in July. Al-Dabaa NPP is an attractive project for international companies. KHNP joins the pool of qualified participants, including major Egyptian companies selected for construction works on site. I am confident that this ambitious project will be successfully implemented with the well-coordinated joint work of the Russian, Egyptian and Korean teams.”
