Nuri Göktepe, Secretary General of the Pressure Irrigation Industrialists' Association (BASUSAD), stated that they are making domestic and international sales as members and that they are working to expand the pressure irrigation systems in Turkey.

Expressing that BASUSAD represents 33 percent of the industry with its 80 members, Nuri Göktepe stated that they have signed important commercial connections with the Growtech fair they attend every year.

Nuri Göktepe, who stated that the Growtech Fair, which will be held for the 21st time this year, is important because it brings together all the components of the agricultural sector, said, “Exhibition is an important issue for all components of the agricultural sector. He is one of the best performers of this job in Growtech. As BASUSAD, we have been participating in the Growtech Fair since its first days. It enables different agricultural companies such as irrigation, greenhouses, seeds, fertilizers and seedlings to meet in the international arena in a sectoral sense. As BASUSAD members, we establish important commercial connections with both domestic and foreign visitors.”

WE EXPORT TO MORE THAN 40 COUNTRIES

Nuri Göktepe, who gave information about the activities of the association, said, “As the association, we aim to provide professional solidarity, cooperation and information exchange by gathering the companies engaged in the establishment and dissemination of pressurized irrigation systems in Turkey and the production and trade of pressure irrigation systems under one roof. We produce world-class products that appeal to the international market. We export to more than 40 countries in South America, North Africa, Russia, Europe and the Middle East. In recent years, our product sales continue to the markets of Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, especially in Uzbekistan. The leading export items are filtration systems, valve groups and drip irrigation pipes. We are among the leading countries in the world in the production of irrigation equipment. In general, 35 percent of our production is exported abroad. We continue to grow in our industry with new markets.”

MODERN IRRIGATION SYSTEMS ARE EXPANDED

Pointing out that one of the most important inputs of the agriculture sector is water, Göktepe continued as follows: “Contrary to popular belief, water is a limited resource, so water conservation is an important factor in the agriculture sector. 77% of the water used in our country, ie 4/3, is used for agricultural irrigation. Three-quarters of agricultural irrigation is done with an uncontrolled method of flood irrigation. In this system, the field is almost irrigated, not the plant, because half of the water spent is wasted. The prohibition of flood irrigation to combat drought is of strategic importance for our country. Because the water coming out of the soil is actually the common property of the whole nation and its protection is important. Farmers who get low yields and meet high costs with the release irrigation system are making losses. He has to turn to different business lines. For this reason, I would like to draw attention once again to the importance of farmers not leaving their fields and spreading the use of pressurized modern irrigation techniques for a sustainable agriculture.

30 EXHIBITORS FROM MORE THAN 600 COUNTRIES, 120 VISITORS FROM MORE THAN 60.000 COUNTRIES WILL MEET AT GROWTECH

Noting that the importance of food supply has emerged once again with the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic and global warming, Growtech Fair Director Engin Er said that irrigation industrialists, producers and other sector stakeholders, which are indispensable for agriculture, will come together at Growtech.

Noting that Turkey has an important potential in food production and that our country has important agricultural basins, Er emphasized the importance of irrigation in the agriculture sector and expressed that they have achieved an important synergy with BASUSAD.

Underlining that the Growtech fair is important because it opens new export doors to the Turkish agricultural sector, Engin Er said, “The number of countries participating and visiting the fair is increasing. This year, 30 exhibitors from more than 600 countries and 120 visitors from more than 60.000 countries will come to the fair. During the fair, BASUSAD members also established important connections related to exports in the past years. There will be new participants from European countries, especially the Netherlands, as well as France, Germany and Italy. On the other hand, Jordan, India, Sri Lanka, Oman, UAE, Kazakhstan and America are important participants this year. Turkey is an important producer in this sector, and we act as a bridge for them to open up to the outside world by bringing the sector together with foreign companies.”
