Adil Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, met with the students who were doing internships within the ministry and talked about the investments. Responding to the criticism of Public Private Partnership Projects, Karaismailoğlu said, “Public-private partnerships build-operate-transfer projects are widely discussed in public. These discussions lead to disinformation. Those who want to use these technical issues for bad politics, unfortunately, are distorting the numbers," he said.

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu said that there are construction sites of infrastructure projects all over Turkey in the program he attended. Explaining that transportation is primarily necessary for the development of the regions, Karaismailoğlu stated that thanks to the big projects in the last 20 years, the country has now come to a position that produces its own engineering solutions and exports its works to the world.

Stating that they invested 183 billion dollars in transportation and infrastructure investments, Karaismailoğlu pointed out that they allocated 112,4 billion dollars of this to highways and approximately 37 billion dollars to railways. Emphasizing that they moved to a railway-based investment period from now on, Karaismailoğlu stated that by 2053, 52 provinces will be connected to each other by high-speed train.

NOT A CENTURY FROM THE GOVERNMENT'S SAFE AT ISTANBUL AIRPORT

Expressing that they have identified the obstacles to come in the coming years and have taken precautions in advance, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu explained that the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and Istanbul Airport are among the important projects. Stating that Istanbul Airport is a project of pride, Karaismailoğlu said that there is an annual passenger capacity of 120 million here, and this may increase to 240 million in the future. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu stated that 10 billion euros were invested in Istanbul Airport without a penny coming out of the state's coffers, and that 26 billion euros in rental income would be provided to the state during the operation. Noting that they have made many infrastructure investments in Anatolia, Karaismailoğlu stated that they have signed very valuable projects in terms of engineering in every corner of Turkey.

INCOME AND EXPENSES OF PROJECTS WILL BEGIN TO BALANCE IN 2024

Explaining the effects of giant investments such as Istanbul Airport, Northern Marmara Highway, Istanbul-Bursa-İzmir Highway and Osmangazi Bridge, Eurasia Tunnel, Antalya Airport, Malkara-Çanakkale Highway and Çanakkale Bridge on the environment and economy, Karaismailoğlu said: expenses will start to balance each other. After 2024, we will start to receive income from these projects. After 2024, we, as the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, will become a ministry that produces our own income without taking any resources from the public budget.”

Referring to the communication investments, Karaismailoğlu said that Türksat launched two satellites into space in one year despite the difficult conditions of the pandemic, and that it will send the domestic and national Türksat 2023A in 6.

BUILD-OPERATE-TRANSFER DISCUSSIONS ARE GOING TO DISINFORMATION

Responding to the criticism of Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects, Karaismailoğlu said, “PPP build-operate-transfer projects are widely discussed in public. These discussions lead to disinformation. Unfortunately, those who want to use these technical issues for bad politics are distorting the numbers. After all, there is a cost of doing a job. If you have money, you can do it from the state budget, but we had limited budgets. We needed to produce an additional finance model in order to do this big job at the same time. We invested 183 billion dollars, only 20 percent of it was with PPP, we produced a budget of 38 billion dollars for ourselves. We completed these projects in a short time, in a different corner of Anatolia, with the state budget, which are very valuable projects for the region.

OUR TARGETS ARE GREAT

Expressing that they are making PPP projects for the financing to be used in infrastructure needs with the central government budget, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu stated that they have design, construction, operation, maintenance-repair and renewal costs when they will be transferred to the state, and the private sector covers these elements. Stating that these investments offer many advantages such as time and fuel savings, emission reduction and traffic comfort, Karaismailoğlu said, “We have done such a great job in 20 years, but our goals are big. It is clear what we will do until 2053, in which sector and how much we will invest”.

Karaismailoğlu emphasized that they stand behind their work, that Turkey's export figures have increased to 250 billion dollars and that it is one of the fastest growing countries in the world thanks to these infrastructure investments.

YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE GROWTH OF OUR COUNTRY

Also giving advice to the interns, Karaismailoğlu said, “When you join us, you will contribute to the growth of our country. It's been about 28 years since my working life started, when you look back, many years pass. In this process, there will be those who put stones in front of you, but you will come to a place by working for the benefit of your state and nation, with determination and determination, without losing your motivation. It takes patience and hard work, I wish you all success in your life.”

Answering the questions of the students, Karaismailoğlu concluded his speech by saying that they attach more importance to communication with each passing day and that they also see it as a security issue.
