Within the scope of the 12.7 mm Machine Gun for Platforms (PMT 12.7) Project initiated by the SSB, the 12.7x99 mm machine gun used in land, air and sea platforms and supplied from abroad is now produced with domestic and national means.

The qualification process for the 12.7 mm Machine Gun for Platforms Project, initiated by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) and carried out by Samsun Yurt Savunma (SYS), has been completed and mass production has begun. Qualification tests were completed after more than a month of hard work. As a result of the shooting and qualification tests carried out; Barrel production was carried out in our country using previously unused materials and production methods, it was determined that the produced barrel has a higher lifespan than its foreign counterparts, and it was confirmed by strength shots that it is more durable and reliable. After the qualification process, mass production started. Now, the 12.7x99 mm machine gun used on our land, air and naval platforms and supplied from abroad will be produced with domestic and national resources and delivered to our security forces.

SSB President Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir, within the scope of his visit to Samsun, visited the facilities of Samsun Yurt Savunma, the contractor company of the project, and examined the stage reached within the scope of the project on site. Demir, who carried out a shooting test with the PMT 12.7 mm Rifle CANİK M2 QCB, made statements about the studies carried out. President Demir's statements are as follows:
