After the warnings of AKOM, the expected precipitation in Istanbul started. AKOM meteorological engineers evaluated today's weather conditions.
The day started with heavy rain in Arnavutköy, Eyüp and Sarıyer districts, and partly cloudy skies with temperatures hovering around 22°C in other places.
Heavy torrential rain is expected to be effective throughout the day, spreading to the northern regions (Sarıyer, Beykoz, Şile) and then to the province in the following hours.
Along with thunderstorms, occasional local hail, lightning, lightning activity and strong winds (20-40km/h) at the time of precipitation are also expected.
In precipitations that are expected to be effective in a short period of time (30-60 minutes) regionally, it may cause ponds on the roads, floods in the sections below the level of the elevation, and floods in the streams depending on the severity of the precipitation, since the rainwater flows instantly. While the cool (27-29°C) and rainy weather is expected to leave our region as of Friday evening, the temperatures are expected to rise above the seasonal normals (32°C) again by the weekend.
It is expected that the air temperatures in Istanbul will remain above the seasonal normals by 5-1°C until September 3th.
