Statement from Ankara Metropolitan Regarding the Crack Occurring in the Walls of Ankara Castle

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) made a written statement about the cracks in Ankara Castle.

ABB's statement said:

“There are some posts targeting our institution on social media regarding the crack in the walls of Ankara Castle. About subject;

1. According to Article 2863 of Law No. 10, the authority belongs to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The survey, restitution and construction projects of the fortification walls were prepared by the Ministry and this project was approved by the Conservation Board.

2. Ankara Cultural Heritage Preservation Regional Board has decided that Ankara Metropolitan Municipality should take "measures regarding the safety of life and property of citizens" until the restoration implementation begins. Based on this decision, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality implements ANFA Security officers and other measures and security measures.

3. Our municipality has also declared in an official letter that it is ready to provide all kinds of support to the restoration works within the framework of a protocol, if deemed appropriate by the Ministry and by taking a decision in our Municipal Assembly.”
