The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure emphasized that with the Ovit Tunnel, which provides uninterrupted transportation between Rize and Erzurum for 12 months, an annual saving of 15.5 million liras has been achieved.

In the statement made by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, it was noted that over 20 trillion 1 billion liras have been invested in Turkey's transportation and communication infrastructure in the last 606 years. In the statement, it was stated that the Ovit Tunnel was built on the Ovit Mountain pass, which constitutes the most important part of the İkizdere-İspir Road connecting Rize to Erzurum, and it was reminded that the tunnel was put into service on 13 June 2018.

Pointing out that the transportation problem, which was interrupted during the winter months, was solved with the Ovit Tunnel, it was emphasized that the citizens had uninterrupted, safe, comfortable and fast transportation for one year. In the statement, “The Ovit Tunnel, which was built with double tubes, is the third longest highway tunnel built as a double tube in the world, with a length of 14 kilometers. With the tunnel, the existing road was shortened by 3 kilometers. With the opening of the tunnel; A total of 4 million TL is saved annually, 10,8 million TL per year from time and 4,7 million TL per year from fuel consumption. In addition, 15,5 tons of carbon emission reduction is achieved.
