Aegean fruit and vegetable product exporters, who realize 40 percent of Turkey's overall fruit and vegetable product exports; In order to keep the pulse of the sub-sectors and reveal their potential, sub-committees were formed in the product, fresh fruit and fruit juices sectors.
The first meeting, which is like an introductory meeting, was held at Aegean Exporters' Associations with the participation of the products committee and Turkmen Turkmenoğlu, Chairman of the Turkish Fruit and Vegetable Products Sector Board.
Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters' Association Product Committee Chairman Deniz Celep from Akcelep Gıda, Committee representatives were Jülide Çelikcenkci from Cenkçi Pickles, İbrahim Acar from İnsus Gıda, Tolga Selim Kağan from Lidya Konservecilik and Burak Kızak from AVOD Gıda.
Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters' Association President Hayrettin Plane said, “While Turkey's overall fruit and vegetable product exports were 2020 billion dollars in 1,6, it increased by 2021 percent to 37 billion dollars in 2,2. While 2020 million dollars of product exports were made from our Union in 693, we brought 2021 million dollars to Turkey with 17 percent acceleration in 811. In 2022, we aim to reach 1,5 billion dollars in fruit and vegetable product exports from the Aegean.
80 percent of Turkey's exports in gherkin pickles and 95 percent of Turkey's exports in dried tomatoes are made from the Aegean. As we promised at the General Assembly, we are accelerating our work by establishing product-based committees. Today, in order to keep the pulse of the sub-sectors and reveal their potential, we have formed three sub-committees to meet every three months in the product, fruit and fruit juice sectors.” said.
Turkmen Turkmenoglu, Chairman of the Turkish Fruit and Vegetable Products Sector Board, announced that in the January-July period of 2022, Turkey's overall product exports reached 21 billion 1 million dollars with an increase of 313 percent, and the product exports of EIB reached 10 million dollars with an increase of 471 percent.
“In our overall exports of Turkey, we exported 48 million dollars to the USA with an increase of 198 percent, 15 million dollars to Germany with an increase of 173 percent, and 70 million dollars to Iraq with an increase of 172 percent. We export to 157 countries and regions in total. Among the top three products in product exports from Turkey are tomato paste with an increase of 80 percent with 180 million dollars, carbonated drinks with an increase of 14 percent with 170 million dollars, apple juice and concentrates with an increase of 9 percent with 115 million dollars. In our first meeting with the Product Committee, current problems and solutions in our industry were discussed. We exchanged ideas in order to promote the sector in the most efficient way. Our meetings will continue to expand the export market of our product industry and to solve the problems we have and will experience in the current export markets.”
