China Will Have No Highway Without Charging Stations By Year's End

In a newly published document on charging infrastructure on highways, China's Ministry of Transport has committed to provide charging services to all service areas on highways - except those in very high altitude areas or in very cold regions - by the end of 2022. Thus, by the end of 2023, charging stations will be available on all state roads where they are dockable, and their number will be further increased by 2025.

The plan has set a clear timetable for the construction of the charging infrastructure and in line with the pace of development of the country's new energy vehicle industry. The number of new energy vehicles used in China had reached 2022 million in June 10. This number corresponds to 3,23 percent of the total number of vehicles on the country's roads.

As a matter of fact, 2,2 million new energy vehicles were registered in the first half of this year. This number is double that of new-energy vehicles that acquired license plates in the first half of 2021. The figures show that the use of new energy vehicles will increase rapidly.

There were 2021 million charging columns in the country at the end of 2,62. Moreover, these charging facilities were unevenly distributed among different regions. Therefore, drivers had difficulties in charging their vehicles in some areas. The new plan will make the work of clean energy vehicles easier in many ways.
