“In July, foreign trade shipments increased by 8,3 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 33 million 919 thousand tons. Transit freight transports made by sea at our ports decreased by 6,7 percent to 6 million 233 thousand tons. The amount of cargo carried in cabotage increased by 6 percent with 45 million 14,4 thousand tons. The highest amount of cargo handling was carried out at the port facilities operating within the administrative borders of Kocaeli Regional Port Authority, with a total of 7 million 388 thousand tons of cargo. Kocaeli Regional Port Authority; Aliağa Regional Port Authority and Ceyhan Regional Port Authority followed suit. Noting that a total of 241 TEU container handling was carried out at the port facilities operating within the administrative borders of Ambarlı Regional Port Authority, Karaismailoğlu noted that this port presidency was followed by Mersin and Kocaeli Regional Port Authorities. Karaismailoğlu stated that the most container handling was carried out with 263 thousand 100 TEUs in transports to Israel.

“Israel; Shipments with Greece and Egypt followed. Containers destined for Egypt accounted for 37 TEUs, with the highest number of export-purpose container shipments made by sea at our ports. Egypt; China and Greece followed suit. It has been determined that the highest number of import-purpose container unloading by sea is composed of containers from Israel with 858 thousand 69 TEUs.”

Autonomous ship voyages will be developed and handling efficiency will be increased with autonomous systems at ports. We will develop the multi-modal and short-distance maritime transport infrastructure that can serve the countries of the region by expanding the transfer service capacity of the ports.
