The cooperative model that Izmir Metropolitan Municipality started for the first time in Turkey for earthquake victims in Izmir continues to make people smile. In the Halk Konut project, a cooperation protocol was signed for the residents of Çiçek Hanım Apartment, which was demolished because it was risky, after the residents of Dilber Apartments.

Cüneyt Yılmaz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Halk Konut 2 Building Cooperative, drew attention to the severe problems experienced since October 30, 2020 and said, “It is proud to implement the first example of the Halk Konut model. Currently, 11 cooperatives that have announced their establishment, 10 cooperatives waiting to be established and one thousand houses are making an effort to be included in the Halk Konut model. We are talking about a thousand houses. Çiçek Hanım Apartments took the name of Halk Konut 2 and started to sprout from seed on this road and was enthusiastically welcomed by all our neighbors. I hope the Halk Konut model will set an example for the whole of Turkey. Our Metropolitan Mayor, who guided us with his support in this difficult and troublesome process and did not leave us alone since the first day of the earthquake. After Dilber Apartment, Çiçek Hanım Apartment

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, İZBETON A.Ş., EgeŞehir A.Ş. and Bayraklı The Halk Konut project, implemented by BAYBEL A.Ş., a subsidiary of the municipality, by forming a union of forces, aims to reconstruct the damaged, destroyed, to be demolished or risky buildings in İzmir in accordance with the current building regulations and to enable the citizens to own houses. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and Bayraklı The municipality offers municipal assurance and technical assistance to the citizens so that the earthquake victims can build their own houses. With the Halk Konut project, it is aimed to support the residents of İzmir for many moderately damaged buildings such as Dilber Apartments and Çiçek Apartments. Municipal companies involved in the People's Housing Project provide contracting services to the cooperative with a symbolic profit rate of 1 percent. Within the scope of the Halk Konut project, which is planned to be implemented in a total of 10 stages, it is aimed to build approximately one thousand houses.

The residents of the apartments, which were determined to be moderately damaged in the earthquake with the Halk Konut project and applied to the municipality, became the contractors of the new building they would build by founding the Halk Konut 1 Building Cooperative. In this way, the residents of Dilber Apartment were also entitled to the new apartment building as cooperative members.
