Noting that Istanbul Airport has maintained its place at the top by ranking first in the list announced by Eurocontrol according to the average flight traffic for two weeks in a row, Karaismailoğlu said, “In July, 11 thousand 62 in domestic flights and 30 thousand 732 in international lines, a total of 41 Istanbul Airports. 794 aircraft traffic was realized. 1 million 736 thousand passengers on domestic lines and 4 million 982 thousand passengers on international lines were served. The number of passengers who preferred Istanbul Airport last month approached 7 million.

Minister of Transport, Karaismailoğlu, drew attention to the chaos in the aviation sector in Europe with the increase in demand after the epidemic and the intensity of the summer period, but noted that such a process did not occur with the measures taken in time in Turkey. Karaismailoğlu said, “There is 200 baggage movements a day at Istanbul Airport. Baggage claim time, which takes 4 hours at European airports, takes 16 minutes at Istanbul Airport. The check-in time at Istanbul Airport, which served approximately 7 million passengers in July, is only 1 minute. Istanbul Airport, the busiest airport in Europe, makes a name for itself with the service it provides.”

ANTALYA AIRPORT RANKS SECOND DENSITY IN JULY

Pointing out that Antalya Airport, which broke a record after Eid al-Adha, ranked second in terms of density in July, Karaismailoğlu said, “The aircraft traffic was 3 thousand 948 in domestic flights, 25 thousand 723 in international lines, and 29 thousand 671 in total. Passenger traffic amounted to 602 thousand 986 in domestic lines, 4 million 578 thousand in international lines, and 5 million 181 thousand in total. In the same period, at Sabiha Gökçen Airport, 8 thousand 961 domestic flights and 9 thousand 296 international flights were experienced. A total of 1 million 527 thousand passengers, 1 million 454 thousand on domestic flights and 2 million 982 thousand on international flights, preferred Sabiha Gökçen Airport.

Expressing that there is a total of 6 thousand 985 aircraft traffic at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport and that more than 1 million 64 thousand passengers are served, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu noted that while there is 6 thousand 228 aircraft traffic at Ankara Esenboğa Airport, 842 thousand 567 passengers fly.
