Red Crescent Female Disaster Volunteers are Raised

Volunteers contribute to Kızılay's main fields of activity, particularly disaster and humanitarian aid. Red Crescent, which keeps its humanitarian services at the highest level, also provides applied disaster response training for qualified volunteer support. In this context, Red Crescent Women volunteers began to receive training to specialize in disaster preparedness and delivery of aid to disaster victims.

Every voluntary support is of great importance for the continuity of humanitarian services. In addition to increasing its disaster response capacity, Red Crescent, which advocates Community Based Disaster Management to be prepared for disasters, makes the support it receives from more than 200 thousand registered volunteers qualified with the trainings it provides. Red Crescent trains disaster volunteers with these training activities, and gives applied disaster response training to women volunteers from Red Crescent disaster experts through the “Red Crescent Women's Disaster Volunteer Training Camp”.

Red Crescent, which has always received the support of women volunteers since the first years of its establishment, explains the topics of Recognition of Disaster Materials, Communication, Nutrition in Disasters and First Aid to the Red Crescent Women volunteers within the scope of the practical training carried out under the joint coordination of the General Directorate of Disaster Management, the Red Crescent Academy Presidency and the Directorate of Volunteer Management. In addition to their theoretical training, the volunteers set up tents, prepare disaster meals, and perform first aid work. Volunteers who receive their training will also participate in drills for disasters such as earthquakes, floods and fires.
