The Handicrafts Festival, which will add value to the arts by the Gölcük Municipality, gathered the masters of traditional handicrafts in Gölcük. The festival, which includes exhibitions of handcrafted works of artists from all over Turkey and Korea, started with a ceremony. The ceremony was attended by Gölcük Mayor Ali Yıldırım Sezer and his wife Türkan Sezer, Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Fatih Taşdelen, AK Party District President Çetin Seymen, Deputy Mayors, artists participating in the festival and many citizens.

Değirmenere Transformed into a Festival Area

The opening of the festival started with the cortege march from Değirmendere Çınarlık Square. Gölcük Mayor Ali Yıldırım Sezer, who made the opening speech of the ceremony after the march, said, “We are carrying out one of the events to make the name of Gölcük known through art, culture and sports. Kocaeli, Tokat, Rize, Sındırgı, İzmir, Balıkesir, Isparta, Sakarya, Siirt, İzmir, Menemen, Ankara, Bilecik and all those who came to our district from Korea to exhibit their handicraft products and contribute to the survival of traditional handicrafts with the information they provided in the workshops. I would like to thank the participants, master trainers and our Culture Manager Tuba Sarıgül and those who contributed”.

THEY HAVE CAREFULLY REVIEWED THE BEAUTIFUL WORKS EACH OTHER

After the speeches, Mayor of Gölcük Ali Yıldırım Sezer and his entourage; Within the scope of the festival, they visited the exhibition consisting of the works of the masters of traditional handicrafts, opened at the Değirmendere Art House. President Sezer and his entourage later visited the stands in the festival area and got information about handcrafted works.

EXHIBITIONS OPENED

Traditional handicrafts exhibition opened by our guests from Korea, Gölcük Municipality handicrafts exhibition, Emel Öz Basket Knitting Exhibition, Ebru Deniz-Anchor Weaving Exhibition, Fatma Kuru Patchwork Exhibition, Nimet Karakuş-Needle Lace Exhibition, Ryhane Bozkurt- Hemşin Socks Exhibition, Mehmet Yılmaz-Knocking Felt Exhibition, İbrahim Boz-Glass Art Exhibition, Yasemin Erten-Tokat Wood Print Exhibition were eye-catching. In the festival, within the scope of declaring 2022 as the "International Year of Glass" by the United Nations; With the workshop of “Glass Forming with Flame” by Meryem Cineviz, hands-on lectures will be given to the visitors.

THEY WILL LEARN TRADITIONAL CRAFTS AT THE FESTIVAL

The festival, which is an important meeting for the sharing of culture and art; In addition to traditional handicraft stands, it will offer two days full of art in Gölcük with technical sharing workshops, theater performances and music concerts. Visitors attending the festival will be able to learn about traditional handicrafts through workshops.
