Every Shot of Gülcan from İzmir is Worth 'Gold'

Gülcan Uzun, the successful athlete of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Club, won a gold medal in both discus throwing championships.

Gülcan Uzun, the young disc player of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Club, took place at the top of the podium in two important organizations. Gülcan Uzun, who won the first Turkish championship in discus throw with a time of 47.21 at the Nurullah İvak Throws Turkish Cup in Bursa, won the gold medal with a time of 20 at the Turkcell U45.98 Athletics Championships, which was also held in Bursa. The athlete, who also ranked fifth in the Balkans in his career, has climbed the ladder of success especially in the last two years and has carried every shot to the value of gold.

Stating that he started sports with table tennis at the age of seven, and switched to discus throwing thanks to Trainer Turgay Çelikel, the athlete from İzmir Metropolitan Belediyespor said, “It is not easy to achieve success. I live in the Çileme Village of Menderes and for years I traveled 50 kilometers every day for training. However, with the opportunities provided by my club, I overcame every difficulty. "My only regret is that I couldn't participate in the European Stars Championship due to COVID-19," he said.
