Organized by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality and Kocaeli Cycling Clubs, the “Conquest of Anatolia 1071 Ahlat Manzikert Victory Cycling Tour” continues. The convoy of 16 athletes reached Malatya. Cyclists will reach Manzikert on 22 August.

CONQUEST OF ANATOLIA BICYCLE TOUR

Under the leadership of the Great Seljuk State Ruler Alp Arslan, the 26th anniversary of the Manzikert Victory, which defeated the Byzantine Empire on 1071 August 951 and opened the gates of Anatolia to the Turks, will be celebrated in Bitlis Ahlat. Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality supports the Manzikert Victory celebrations with the “Conquest of Anatolia 1071 Ahlat Manzikert Victory Cycling Tour” organized together with Kocaeli Cycling Clubs. On 12 August, the cyclists, who received the Turkish Flag from Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Yaşar Çakmak, started to pedal.

THEY REACHED MALATYA

Cyclists from Kocaeli, who have been pedaling for 1071 days for the “Conquest of Anatolia 7 Ahlat Manzikert Victory bicycle tour”, ride an average of 160 kilometers every day. Cyclists from Kocaeli reached Malatya after the 7th stage ride.

THE TOUR WILL END IN AHLAT

Cyclists will pedal for Malatya-Elazığ in the 8th stage, Elazığ-Bingöl in the 9th stage, and Bingöl-Malazgirt in the 10th stage. Cyclists, who will pedal 600 kilometers in total, will participate in the 1071 Ahlat Manzikert Victory events to be held in Bitlis/Ahlat.
