Additional and New Flight Request for Şerafettin Elçi Airport

Şırnak's Cizre Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Salih Sefinç stated that the flights at Şerafettin Elçi Airport could not meet the needs, and he took initiatives to make additional flights to the existing direct Ankara and Istanbul flights, and to start direct flights to Adana and Izmir.

Cizre Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman of the Board of Directors Salih Sevinç, the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M.Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu and Turkish Airlines (THY) general manager and Board member Bilal Ekşi, directly at Şırnak Şerafettin ELÇİ airport in Ankara. In addition to arranging additional flights to Istanbul and Istanbul flights, he took initiatives to start direct flights to Adana-Izmir.

President Sevinç emphasized that Cizre is the center of the region, both strategically and economically, regarding the additional and new voyage he made before the THY General Directorate;

He stated that the cancellation of a destination with an 600% occupancy rate of the flights made to Adana-İzmir provinces by the Pegasus company that existed at Şırnak Şerafettin ELÇİ airport, which has an annual capacity of 80 thousand passengers in transportation between Turkey and the Middle East, caused business and time losses especially for our regional businessmen.

President Sevinç, who stated in his report that Şırnak Şerafettin Elçi Airport served 524 passengers with 29.325 airplane traffic that took off and landed in July; “When we look at the total 2022-month data of 7, it served 3.393 passengers with 174.545 aircraft. In this context, our businessmen have intense demands for us to make the said destination by THY/Anadolu Jet. In addition to Adana-Izmir flights, there are currently 1 daily flights to Ankara and 2 flights to Istanbul from the airport in question. In this sense, it is important to start additional flights considering the demands of the passengers and businessmen coming from the cities close to Şırnak Şerafettin Elçi airport and from neighboring countries for the specified flights.”
