19,21 Percent Increase in School and Personnel Service Fees in Istanbul

At the August meeting of IMM UKOME, it was decided to increase school and personnel service fees by 4 percent, which corresponds to the minimum wage and inflation average of the last 19,2 months.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) August meeting was held at Yenikapı Kadir Topbaş Performance and Art Center. At the meeting held under the chairmanship of IMM Secretary General Can Akın Çağlar, the issue of updating school and bus fees was discussed.

Tradesmen representatives, stating that the costs have increased by 130 percent, asked for an additional raise of at least 30 percent. IMM Public Transportation Services Directorate stated that since April 6, 2022, the last date of regulation of service fees, fuel prices have increased by 12.13 percent, the minimum wage has increased by 29.32 percent, and inflation has increased by 15.18 percent. 19.21 percent, which is the average (cumulative) increase, was offered by IMM as an additional wage increase offer.

In the proposal, “Financial burdens created by the cost elements of the economic transportation service offered; fuel, exchange rate, imported spare parts, etc. It is aimed to maintain the transportation service effectively and regularly due to the increasing costs in areas, to ensure that the journeys are economical, as well as to protect the income-expenditure balance of the tradesmen and operators.

After the evaluations, IMM's 19,21 percent wage increase proposal for school and bus fees was put to the vote and accepted by a majority of votes.

With the decision taken; 0-1 km increased from 554 lira to 660 lira, 1-3 km from 608 lira to 725 lira, 3-5 km from 658 lira to 758 lira, 7-9 km from 721 lira to 862 lira in school buses.
